Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment Nguyen Duc Binh, Deputy Head of the Provincial Steering Committee on IUU highly appreciated the efforts of Dong Son commune in combating IUU fishing. Currently, the commune still has 7 fishing vessels at risk of violating regulations on IUU fishing, so the locality needs to strengthen management and supervision, take deterrent measures, and resolutely not allow unqualified vessels to go to sea.
Coordinate with functional forces to promote propaganda work with many diverse and rich forms. Assign cadres and party members to monitor each high-risk vessel. Grasp the thoughts and aspirations of fishermen; resolutely implement solutions in the current peak period to overcome existing problems, contributing with the entire fisheries industry to soon remove the EC's "yellow card" for IUU.

Dong Son commune currently has 457 boats, the number of boats with a length of 6m or more that have been granted fishing vessel registration certificates is 362. Of these, 209 are 15m or more in length, with 208 fishing boats having been installed with voyage monitoring equipment (VMS), while 01 boat has not completed the installation. The management and monitoring of fishing vessels has had many positive changes.
