Drug and alcohol test for garbage truck driver who hit and killed 4 people

On the afternoon of April 26, the Traffic Police Department, Long An Provincial Police coordinated with related units to conduct alcohol and drug tests on driver Tran Van Hau (born in 1980, residing in Tan Thanh, Long An Province), and at the same time examined the scene and vehicle to clarify the cause of the particularly serious traffic accident that left 3 people dead and 1 person in critical condition.

According to initial information, at around 7:00 a.m. the same day, a garbage truck with license plate 62C-024.47 driven by driver Hau was traveling on National Highway N2 (from Dong Thap to Long An).

When passing through Kinh Giua hamlet, Nhon Ninh commune, Tan Thanh district, the vehicle collided with a motorbike with license plate 66CA-051.70 driven by Phan Hoai Tanh (born 2005, from Vinh Long) carrying Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Dung (born 1979, residing in Cu Chi, Ho Chi Minh City).

At the same time, the garbage truck hit a motorbike with license plate 59Y3-766.39 driven by Nguyen Vo Quoc Tuyen (born 2002, residing in Cu Chi, Ho Chi Minh City) carrying Pham Hoai Tinh (born 2009, from Vinh Long ) traveling in the opposite direction.

The strong collision caused 1 victim to be stuck in the garbage truck.

The collision caused Tanh and Mrs. Dung to die on the spot, Tuyen and Tinh were seriously injured and were taken to the emergency room in critical condition. At the hospital, Tuyen died due to severe injuries. Phan Hoai Tinh was transferred to Cho Ray Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City for further treatment.

The victim's motorbike was deformed after the collision.

The truck fell into the field and overturned, seriously damaging two motorbikes. It is known that the truck is owned by Tan Thanh Urban Construction Joint Stock Company with an inspection certificate issued on April 8, 2025 and valid until October 7, 2025.

Through the investigation, it was initially determined that driver Hau was driving the garbage truck at high speed, because he was driving close to the right curb (below was a rice field), he quickly turned the wheel out and hit the two motorbikes above.
