Kien Giang deploys 21 projects to serve APEC 2027, with a total investment of more than 137,138 billion VND

Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Nhan has just signed and issued a Plan to organize and implement projects serving the APEC 2027 Conference in Phu Quoc City, Kien Giang Province according to Decision No. 948/QD-TTg dated May 17, 2025 of the Prime Minister.

This plan aims to ensure the completion of foreign affairs and national political tasks assigned by the Prime Minister to prepare infrastructure conditions to successfully organize the APEC 2027 Conference in Phu Quoc City, associated with the sustainable development of the locality and the country according to Decision No. 948/QD-TTg dated May 17, 2025.

Accordingly, regarding planning, the organization will prepare and adjust the Phu Quoc City Master Plan in parallel with the organization of preparing zoning plans and detailed plans, based on updating projects and works serving the APEC 2027 Summit Week. Ensure the progress of completion and submission to competent authorities for approval from July 1, 2025; following the simplified procedures prescribed by the law on planning and other relevant laws.

There are a total of 21 projects serving the APEC 2027 Conference being implemented, divided into 2 groups of projects including: public investment projects; investment projects under the public-private partnership (PPP) method and business investment.

Of which, there are 9 public investment projects with central budget support, with a preliminary total investment of 20,166 billion VND, including: Cua Can Lake Investment Project; Duong Dong 2 Lake Investment Project; Project to build embankments and level the ground for the construction of the APEC Conference Center and functional works; Provincial Road DT.975 Project (section from DT.973 - Phu Quoc Airport - DT.975 - DT.973); Urban metro line project, section 1 (Investment in the form of PPP - BOT contract or other investment forms according to the law); APEC Boulevard Project; Project to build underground technical infrastructure in An Thoi area; Project to build underground technical infrastructure in Duong Dong area; Investment in technical infrastructure, digital transformation to build a smart monitoring and control center for comprehensive management of Phu Quoc City.

Phu Quoc International Airport will be expanded under the public-private partnership (PPP) and business investment method with a total estimated investment of VND22,000 billion.

In addition, there are public investment projects using local budgets and mobilizing other legal capital sources, including resettlement areas in Cua Can, Ho Suoi Lon, An Thoi, and Ham Ninh. The total implementation time is expected to be 24 months.

There are 11 projects invested under the public-private partnership (PPP) and business investment method, with a preliminary total investment of 116,972 billion VND, including: Phu Quoc International Airport Expansion Investment Project; APEC Conference Center; Bai Bon Waste Treatment Area (Ham Ninh); Bai Bon Waste-to-Energy Plant (Ham Ninh); An Thoi Domestic Solid Waste Treatment Plant; An Thoi Centralized Wastewater Treatment Plant; Duong Dong Centralized Wastewater Treatment Plant; Duong Dong 2 Water Plant; Cua Can Lake Water Plant; Bai Dat Do Mixed Urban Area; Ong Quan Mountain Eco-tourism Mixed Urban Area. The total implementation time is expected to be 24 months.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Kien Giang province assigned the provincial departments, branches, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Quoc city and relevant agencies and units to organize and implement the contents of this plan. In the process of implementation, if there are any difficulties or problems, the agencies, units and localities shall report to the Provincial People's Committee (through the Department of Construction) for appropriate adjustment and supplementation.
