Kien Giang: Funeral and burial of 32 remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts

On the morning of June 26, at the Martyrs Cemetery of Hon Dat District (Kien Giang), the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Kien Giang Province coordinated with the armed forces to solemnly hold a memorial service and burial ceremony for 32 remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died during the wars in Cambodia and in the country.

This is the 28th memorial service, organized within the framework of the work of searching for and collecting martyrs' remains from 2001 to present.

Attending the ceremony were comrades: Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Tien Hai; Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Nhan; Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Trung Ho; Colonel Nguyen Van Nganh, Commander of the Military Command of Kien Giang Province; together with representatives of departments, branches, and a large number of people and relatives of martyrs.

In a solemn and emotional atmosphere, delegates offered incense and observed a moment of silence to commemorate the great contributions of the Vietnamese people who fell for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland and for the happiness of the people.

Speaking at the memorial service, Vice Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee Le Trung Ho was moved to express his deep gratitude to the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the mountains and forests of the border, in distant lands to protect every inch of their homeland.

The leaders of the provincial People's Committee affirmed that the Party Committee, government and people of Kien Giang will continue to inherit the revolutionary tradition, determined to build the homeland to develop more and more, and preserve the peace that the previous generations paid for with their blood and bones. At the same time, the province will continue to care for the families of martyrs, andeducate the younger generation to live a life worthy of the sacrifices of the previous generations.

According to the Military Command of Kien Giang province, in the period of 2024 - 2025, carrying out the task of searching and collecting martyrs' remains according to the Cooperation Agreement between the Government of Vietnam and the Government of Cambodia, Team K92 searched and collected 32 martyrs' remains, of which 13 were found in Cambodia and 19 were collected in the province.

Since 2001, officers and soldiers of Team K92 have searched for and collected the remains of 3,188 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts, bringing them back to the country for burial at martyr cemeteries in Kien Giang province - affirming the determination to not let anyone be forgotten, not let any sacrifice be overshadowed by the years.
