The Vietnam Road Administration has just reported to the Ministry of Transport about the organization of placing maximum speed signs on the expressway designed with 4 lanes for motor vehicles (2 lanes on each side).

From the end of December 2023 to present, based on the instructions of the Ministry of Transport and proposals of the units, the leaders of the Vietnam Road Administration said that there have been 4 investment-phased expressway sections designed with 4 motor lanes operated with a maximum speed from 80km/h to 90km/h, namely My Thuan 2 Bridge and the approach roads at both ends of the bridge; My Thuan- Can Tho ; Trung Luong-My Thuan; Tuyen Quang-Phu Tho.

According to reports from the Project Management Boards and the Department of Transport, which is managing the above-mentioned expressways, after a period of operation and monitoring, traffic has initially stabilized.

To ensure uniformity, the Vietnam Road Administration recommends that the Ministry of Transport direct investors and management agencies of the investment-phased expressway sections to be designed with 4 motor vehicle lanes of similar size, with a hard median strip separating the two directions of traffic, with a maximum speed of 90km/h; and to strengthen conditions and measures to ensure traffic on the route.

During the exploitation and use process, the Ministry of Transport requires investors and exploitation management units to continue monitoring traffic organization and traffic safety on the route to promptly detect any problems and inadequacies, and report to competent authorities to adjust the exploitation speed and traffic organization plan accordingly to ensure safe and smooth traffic.

Project management boards, departments, and investors of expressway investment projects must make additional investments to strengthen traffic safety and order; invest in intelligent transportation systems (ITS) in the Project on construction, management, exploitation, and maintenance of traffic infrastructure systems to meet the requirements of the fourth industrial revolution approved by the Prime Minister.

Previously, the Vietnam Road Administration also proposed the Ministry of Transport to direct the increase of the maximum speed from 80km/h to 90km/h for cars, cars with up to 30 seats and trucks up to 3.5 tons on 9 sections of 4-lane limited expressways (also known as 4-lane limited expressways) including Lao Cai-Kim Thanh Expressway (end of Noi Bai-Lao Cai Expressway), Cao Bo-Mai Son, Mai Son-National Highway 45, National Highway 45-Nghi Son, Nghi Son-Dien Chau, Nha Trang-Cam Lam, Cam Lam-Vinh Hao, Vinh Hao-Phan Thiet, My Thuan-Can Tho.
