Overseas Vietnamese in Laos are proud of the country's outstanding achievements.

Those are the shares of the Vietnamese community living and working in Laos when asked about their feelings about the historic day of April 30, as well as the achievements that the country has achieved over the past half century.

After more than 10 years of living and working in Laos, Ms. Bui Thi Oanh, currently working for a foreign enterprise in the capital Vientiane, still cannot forget the stories and lessons about the significance of the historic victory of April 30, 1975 that she was told by her ancestors, taught by her teachers, and watched and heard on the radio and newspapers from her childhood to adulthood. The more she listened and watched, the more she understood the great significance of this historic day for the nation, understood the price of peace , and became more proud and loved Vietnam. That is also the reason why, despite her busy work in Laos, every year she tries to arrange time to visit the country with her family, and what impresses her most each time she returns to the Fatherland is the extremely rapid "transformation" in her homeland.

Recalling to reporters about her visit to Vietnam on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2024, Ms. Oanh said that besides the joy of family reunion, what she feels happiest and proudest about is that her homeland is changing very quickly, with increasingly modern infrastructure and industrial parks springing up everywhere. This not only helps create more jobs, but also helps people in her hometown have a stable income and not have to leave their homeland like before. Ms. Oanh proudly shared: “Our homeland, our country is changing rapidly, not only measured by years, months, but also by days, hours. Every time I return to my homeland, I feel like my country is wearing a new shirt.”

According to Ms. Oanh, the above outstanding achievements are thanks to the wise leadership of the Party and Government, and the unceasing efforts of the Vietnamese people. Ms. Oanh also expressed her gratitude for the attention that the Party and State have always given to the overseas Vietnamese community over the years. Most recently, the Vietnamese National Assembly passed the amended Land Law, which includes provisions allowing overseas Vietnamese to buy houses, have the right to own houses and the right to use land like domestic citizens. According to Ms. Oanh, this is proof that the Party and State have accepted and acknowledged the contributions of overseas Vietnamese during the law-making process, and this will encourage overseas Vietnamese and businesses to return home to invest in real estate, creating a large cash flow from abroad to Vietnam, contributing significantly to the socio -economic development of Vietnam, together fostering and creating the strength of the Vietnamese nation.

Appreciating the leadership of the Party and State, Mr. Phi Van Mai, Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Oudomxay Province, Northern Laos, said that from a poor nation that suffered many painful losses in the wars of national defense, under the wise leadership of the Party, 49 years since the country was reunified, Vietnam has surpassed itself, creating new marks and miracles in the cause of protecting, building and developing the country, especially in the cause of innovation and international integration.

According to Mr. Phi Van Mai, the achievements in 38 years of implementing Vietnam's renovation, especially in economics and foreign affairs, are clear evidence, affirming the correctness and creativity of our Party in applying Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought on the path to Socialism in accordance with the country's reality and the objective development trend of the world and the times. This has continuously enhanced the prestige, firmly consolidated the Party's leadership role over the entire army and people at home and abroad, and at the same time provided a reference model for underdeveloped countries to move towards a friendly, harmonious, cooperative diplomacy for mutual development; an independent, self-reliant economy that knows how to effectively utilize and promote both internal and external resources.

Feeling honored and proud to be a son of the Vietnamese people before the outstanding achievements of important historical significance that the Party, State and People of Vietnam have achieved over the past years, Mr. Mai said that this is a source of encouragement, motivation and great motivation not only for him personally but also for many other Vietnamese people living in Laos and around the world to always strive to promote the good values of the Vietnamese people, especially the tradition of diligence, hard work, solidarity and mutual support for development.

Mr. Mai believes that with the brilliant achievements that Vietnam has achieved in the past time, along with the growth momentum of 2023, in 2024, the entire Party, people and army will continue to unite, maintain a peaceful environment and create new breakthroughs in socio-economic development, successfully implement national goals, improve income and quality of life of the entire population.

The President of the Vietnamese Association in Oudomxay Province, Northern Laos, also hopes that in the near future, under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the strict management and administration according to the law of the State, Vietnam will become more and more beautiful, the Vietnamese people will step closer to the stage of glory to stand shoulder to shoulder with the world powers as President Ho Chi Minh always wished during his lifetime./.
