Earlier, at around 2:30 p.m. the same day, Cua Tung Border Guard Station (Quang Tri Province Border Guard) received a report of a fire in the protective forest in Mach Nuoc village, Vinh Hoang commune. Immediately after, the unit mobilized 20 officers and soldiers to participate in fire fighting.
At the scene, officers and soldiers of Cua Tung Border Guard Station, police and military forces, along with local authorities and people, urgently extinguished the fire, preventing it from spreading. After more than 2 hours of effort, by 4:30 p.m. the same day, the fire was basically extinguished, and all firefighting forces were safe.

Initial statistics show that the area of protective forest damaged is more than 2,000 square meters (mainly Melaleuca trees). The initial cause was determined to be due to people burning the ground cover, causing the fire to spread to the Melaleuca forest.
Currently, forces are continuing to check and extinguish remaining points that are at risk of re-igniting to ensure safety.
