The Ministry of Education and Training informed: Initial assessment of candidates, teachers and public opinion, the Literature and Math exams are part of the high school program, closely following the knowledge and skills standards with appropriate differentiation, achieving the purpose of being the basis for considering recognition of high school graduation and providing reliable data for universities and vocational education institutions to refer to and use in enrollment.

Authorities ensure safety and are ready to support candidates at the exam site of Co Do High School, Nghe An province.

Regarding the photo of the Literature exam appearing online at around 8:00 a.m. on June 28, 2023, the Ministry of Education and Training said that the Ministry has grasped the information and transferred the information to the Department of Internal Political Security, Ministry of Public Security to verify. If any violations are detected, they will be strictly handled according to regulations. The above information does not affect the exam because the ability to interact is only with one candidate. Up to this point, the Ministry of Education and Training has not recorded any information about solving the exam questions or instructions on solving the exam questions from outside the exam room. The Ministry of Education and Training recommends that the Examination Councils continue to strengthen plans to prevent high-tech devices to minimize the possibility of cheating in the exam room, and strictly manage the exam questions according to regulations.

Regarding the information that "the literary argument in the Literature exam of the 2023 High School Graduation Exam uses the same material as the material used in the local graduation mock exam", at first, the Exam Steering Committee finds that it is completely normal for the exam to use the same material. The difference is that with the same material, each exam has different specific requirements (analysis, evaluation, commentary, comments, etc.).

Candidates preparing for the Math exam at Nguyen Binh Khiem High School, Cau Giay District, Hanoi

Evaluating this year’s Literature exam, many teachers said that the exam was quite good, close to students and highly differentiated. In the literary essay section, to get a high score, candidates must have a good review process and deeply understand the work. With just basic knowledge, candidates can get a score of 6-7. However, if they want to get a score of 8-9, they must have a solid knowledge and a serious review process. The essay questions are the questions that differentiate.

“This year’s exam structure has 3 parts: reading comprehension, social commentary, and literary commentary. In the reading comprehension section, in general, the questions in this section are easy for students to write, not too difficult. With just basic knowledge, students can get 2 points for this question. The second social commentary question is a very good and practical question. With the literary commentary question related to the work “ The Beggar’s Wife” by writer Kim Lan, this is a classification question. For students with good knowledge and preparation, they will do relatively well. For students who are not majoring in social sciences, it is not difficult to get above average scores. In general, this year’s essay questions are highly classified and the average score will be around 6-7 points. For students who are confident in their knowledge, they can get 8-9 points,” said Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet, a Literature teacher at Thuan Thanh 1 High School, Bac Ninh province.

The Math test is done in 90 minutes.

Analyzing this year's exam, Mr. Dang Huu Cong, a Literature teacher at Co Do High School, Nghia Dan District, Nghe An Province, also said that this year's exam was relatively suitable for candidates, especially the reading comprehension and social discussion questions, which are both topics close to students, talking about looking at life in an optimistic way and believing in a brighter future. However, the exam is still safe, not groundbreaking. The exam format still follows the basic structure of recent years.

“Regarding the overall score, it is difficult to predict because it depends on each student's ability. However, with some questions at the beginning of the exam, I think most of the students will get a good score,” said teacher Dang Huu Cong.

Regarding the Math exam, teachers Le Ba Tran Phuong, Nguyen Minh Thang, and Luu Huy Thuong of the HOCMAI Education System assessed: The structure of the 2023 High School Graduation Math exam remains stable, with almost no change compared to the official exam in 2022 and is similar to the reference exam announced by the Ministry of Education and Training on March 1, 2023. This is completely reasonable because it does not cause disruption in the review of candidates, consistent with the main purpose of considering graduation recognition. However, the exam still has some questions with new ways of giving test data, which are challenging for candidates who want to get full marks.

Regarding knowledge content: The exam closely follows the structure and format of the High School Graduation exam in recent years with 90% of the questions (45 questions) from the 12th grade program and 10% of the questions (5 questions) from the 11th grade program. Regarding the difficulty of the exam, compared to 2022, the exam is slightly more difficult.

About 45 questions in the test (90%) are familiar types of questions that students have become familiar with during the review process. Of which, the first 38 questions are questions at the recognition - understanding level, which can be easily solved if you just have a solid grasp of the knowledge base. The test has 5 questions of a classified nature and is in the 12th grade knowledge section on the topics of Complex numbers, functions, exponentials - logarithms, Oxyz shapes and integrals (similar to the 2023 reference test). The application - high-level application questions are mostly familiar types of questions that have appeared in official tests or tests of schools and Departments of Education (such as extreme values of functions, area of flat shapes, min - max modules of complex numbers, etc.). In addition, the test has high-level, extremely difficult application questions with high classification such as questions 43, 50, etc. (test code 124). Students need to have good thinking skills to be able to determine the solution direction and combine many interdisciplinary knowledge to be able to solve these questions.

In general, the test closely follows the requirements of the exam but there is still differentiation in the last group of questions. With this test, the peak of the score range will fluctuate at 6-7 points, the number of 10 points will not be much.

Official Exam Matrix for the 2023 High School Graduation Exam in Mathematics

According to Dr. Le Anh Tuan, a lecturer at Hanoi University of Industry, the 2023 high school graduation math exam will still consist of 50 questions and 24 exam codes, including 4 official exam codes. Of which, 45 questions are about grade 12 knowledge (accounting for 90%) and 5 questions are about grade 11 knowledge (accounting for 10%). The exam closely follows the sample exam and exam questions from recent years. However, this exam has better differentiation than the sample exam and the 2022 graduation exam. The 2023 math exam will still maintain stability in structure, proportion and distribution of difficult and easy questions. However, there will still be some new and challenging questions and data for candidates who want to get full marks.

The exam closely follows the requirements for graduation recognition and the questions in the exam have good differentiation for university admission. With this exam, the peak score range will fluctuate between 6.6-7.4 points.

Evaluating this year's Math exam, Nguyen Hong Hanh, a student at Tran Hung Dao High School (Thanh Xuan, Hanoi) said that she found it not too difficult to get a score of 8.

Meanwhile, Diem Manh Hung, a math major student at the Natural Sciences Gifted School (Hanoi National University), said that this year's exam was more difficult than last year's and it was difficult to get the maximum score. Hung said that starting from question 30 onwards, it was difficult, especially the last 5 questions, so he expected his score to be only around 9 points.
