Attending the conference were comrade Nguyen Thanh Cong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of a number of provincial departments and branches.
The delegates reviewed the 30-year tradition of the establishment and development of the Association of the Elderly, the great contributions of the elderly - those who have been preserving and promoting the good values of the nation, for the sustainable development of the country. Currently, the whole province has 12 associations of the elderly at the district, town and city levels, 204 associations of the elderly at the commune, ward and town levels, with over 116,000 members.
The emulation movement "Old age, bright example" has produced many typical and advanced examples, actively contributing with the locality to participate in patriotic emulation campaigns and movements in all areas of life and society.
Implementing the Project to replicate the model of intergenerational self-help clubs, in the past 5 years, the whole province has established 102 new clubs, bringing the total number of clubs in the province to 132. The clubs maintain effective operating habits, closely connecting members and the community, with rich and practical activities, supporting each other to improve their lives. The Association has organized more than 180 training courses on operating intergenerational self-help clubs for more than 2,000 association officials at all levels and club members in accordance with the instructions of the Central and the province.
To date, clubs across the province have mobilized over 3.3 billion VND, lending to over 530 members for economic development; 100% of clubs have art troupes, health gymnastics, folk dances, and sports teams that regularly practice and organize exchanges; 100% of elderly people participating in clubs have monitoring books and receive free periodic health check-ups.
Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Nguyen Thanh Cong requested Party committees, authorities, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee to continue to lead and create favorable conditions for the elderly associations at all levels to operate effectively, especially in replicating the model of intergenerational self-help clubs, helping to improve the quality of life. Effectively implement the National Strategy on the Elderly to 2035, striving for the period 2025-2030 to have at least 50% of communes, wards, and towns have intergenerational self-help clubs that meet standards, promoting the role of the elderly in the community.
On this occasion, the Vietnam Association of the Elderly awarded the Medal "For the cause of protecting, caring for and promoting the role of the Vietnamese elderly" to 6 former provincial leaders; awarded certificates of merit to 1 collective and 2 individuals. The Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 4 collectives and 4 individuals. The Provincial Association of the Elderly awarded certificates of merit to 16 collectives and 38 individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing the Project to replicate the model of intergenerational self-help clubs in the period 2020-2025.
