On the evening of April 25, the Vietnamese Consulate General in Khon Kaen coordinated with overseas Vietnamese in Khon Kaen province to organize the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
Attending the event were officials and staff of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Khon Kaen, representatives of overseas Vietnamese associations in the northeastern provinces of Thailand and about 200 overseas Vietnamese in the northeastern region of Thailand.
Opening the ceremony, Consul General Dinh Hoang Linh affirmed that 50 years ago, on April 30, 1975, the history of the Vietnamese nation left a brilliant mark when the revolutionary flag flew on the roof of the Independence Palace, ending the victory of the Ho Chi Minh Campaign, liberating the South, and unifying the country.
The great victory of Spring 1975, culminating in the Ho Chi Minh Campaign, was a glorious victory of the entire Vietnamese people, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the great President Ho Chi Minh, and an extremely great feat of arms of the people of the whole country, of countless heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Fatherland.

Consul General Dinh Hoang Linh emphasized that half a century has passed since April 30, 1975. From a country devastated by war, Vietnam today has risen strongly and is gradually affirming its position in the international arena.
Vietnam has overcome challenges in the process of innovation and is now entering a new era, the era of the rise of a strong and prosperous Vietnamese nation.
Expressing gratitude for the valuable, persistent and meaningful contributions of the overseas Vietnamese community to Vietnam, including the significant contributions of overseas Vietnamese in Khon Kaen province and the Northeast region of Thailand, Consul General Dinh Hoang Linh affirmed that on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, the Vietnamese people as well as overseas Vietnamese in the Northeast region of Thailand always remember President Ho Chi Minh and turn to Vietnam.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Dang Thi Gai, President of the Thai-Vietnamese Association of Khon Kaen Province, shared: "In the sacred atmosphere of April 30, 1975 - the Day of Southern Liberation and National Reunification, my heart is filled with emotion. Even though many years have passed, every time this day comes, I always tell my children and grandchildren about the heroic years of the nation, when the whole country shared the same will and aspiration to regain peace and unify the country.
The victory of April 30, 1975 was not only a military victory, but also a victory of patriotism and the indomitable spirit of solidarity of our people.
Living in a foreign land, the more I miss my homeland, the more I cherish the sacrifices and losses of my ancestors. I hope that my children and grandchildren, no matter where they were born and raised, will always remember their roots and be proud of the heroic history of the Vietnamese people. I bow my head in gratitude to those who fell for independence and freedom. And I wish our country Vietnam to always develop, be strong, peaceful and happy."

Mr. Cao Tat Minh, former Chairman of the Thai-Vietnamese Association of Khon Kaen Province, affirmed that on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, we always remember President Ho Chi Minh, who devoted his whole life to the country and the people. President Ho Chi Minh has brought glory to the Vietnamese people and the country of Vietnam.
Mr. Nguyen Van Cam, representative of the business community of Khon Kaen province, emotionally said: "I always tell myself that love for Vietnam is not just about emotions, but over the years we have always turned towards Vietnam with concrete actions.
Today, we understand clearly the values of peace and independence that many generations of fathers and brothers have sacrificed their lives and blood to obtain. We have and will continue to contribute our small efforts so that Vietnam can develop, prosper and flourish."

At the ceremony, delegates enjoyed songs and heroic songs that have been around for years about President Ho Chi Minh, about the homeland and the country of Vietnam such as: Liberating the South, Grateful to Uncle Ho Chi Minh, Uncle Ho - an immense love, Hanoi - faith and hope, Cau ho on the banks of Hien Luong... performed by overseas Vietnamese and staff of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Khon Kaen.
Revolutionary songs with heroic and profound melodies brought delegates to live in the heroic atmosphere of the years when the whole nation united and unanimously achieved victory on April 30, 1975.
Many young overseas Vietnamese at the ceremony affirmed that, although they were not present during the historical moments of the nation, they could still imagine the historical stories that made the victory of the Vietnamese people, understand more about the heroic past of their ancestors and have faith in a bright future, towards the era of the Vietnamese people's rise.

Also at today's ceremony, Consul General Dinh Hoang Linh and overseas Vietnamese offered incense and flowers to the altar of President Ho Chi Minh in the Consulate General's premises; enjoyed a video about the victory of the resistance war against the US to save the country, culminating in the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign with the victory on April 30, 1975, liberating the South and reunifying the country.
