3D printed titanium chest wall reconstruction surgery technique honored at Asian medical awards

Healthcare Asia Awards is a prestigious annual award in the healthcare sector in Asia, honoring outstanding healthcare systems, hospitals and healthcare providers in the region.

Surpassing a series of strict criteria and hundreds of nominations across the continent, Vinmec was honored in both important categories of “Healthcare System of the Year” and “Healthcare Technology Innovation of the Year”; at the same time, it became the first healthcare system in Vietnam to be honored at the Healthcare Asia Awards.

Vinmec is recognized as “Healthcare System of the Year” thanks to its synchronous system scale, high professional capacity with prestigious certifications such as JCI (Global Gold Standard for Quality and Patient Safety), ACC (Certification from the American Heart Association for Heart Failure Management and Treatment Program), RTAC (Quality Standards in Assisted Reproduction in Asia- Pacific ), AABB (a prestigious global certification for collecting, processing, storing and supplying cell therapy products), international quality medical services; sustainable operational efficiency and many activities to improve community health.

Vinmec representatives received awards in two categories including “Healthcare System of the Year” and “Healthcare Technology Innovation of the Year” at the Healthcare Asia Awards 2025.

In the category of “Medical Technology Innovation of the Year”, Vinmec was recognized for its initiative in reconstructing the chest wall using 3D printed titanium - the first successful case performed in Southeast Asia.

The initiative not only brings a chance of life to patients with severe malformations but also opens up a new approach to personalized treatment, affirming Vinmec's pioneering role in applying modern medical technology in Vietnam and the region.

A representative of the Healthcare Asia Awards 2025 Organizing Committee shared that among hundreds of nominations from across the region, Vinmec stood out not only for its internationally recognized expertise but also for its innovative thinking, pioneering technology approach and comprehensive operating model. These factors helped Vinmec fully meet the strict criteria of the award and deserve to become the first representative of Vietnam to be honored in two important categories at the same time: Healthcare System of the Year and Healthcare Technology Innovation of the Year.

Ms. Le Thuy Anh (General Director of Vinmec Healthcare System, Vingroup Corporation) said that this award is a valuable recognition from the international professional community for the Vinmec team's continuous efforts in building a modern, humane and standardized healthcare ecosystem. This is not only Vinmec's own achievement but also a milestone demonstrating the great potential of Vietnamese healthcare in the journey of regional integration.

Ms. Le Thuy Anh said that in terms of medical technology, Vinmec has invested heavily in modern technologies such as Da Vinci surgical robots, 3.0 Tesla MRI system, 2560-slice CT, and AI-integrated Hybrid operating rooms. At the same time, Vinmec has proactively researched and applied advanced treatment methods such as stem cell therapy, CAR-T cells, and 3D printing of personalized implants.

Regarding in-depth development, Vinmec is the first and only healthcare system in Vietnam to build a Center of Excellence (CoE) model in 4 key specialties: Cardiology, Oncology, Orthopedics - Sports Medicine and Clinical Immunology.

In terms of professional achievements, Vinmec has successfully treated many rare and complicated cases such as: Simultaneous replacement of the pelvis and femur with 3D printed bones (first in the world), reconstruction of the chest wall with 3D printed titanium (first in Southeast Asia), treatment of pseudotumor due to metal poisoning from artificial joints (second case in the world), retroperitoneal Castleman disease or autoimmune encephalitis with stem cell therapy (first in Vietnam).
