In mid-April 2025, in the tea area of Hoang Nong commune, Dai Tu District People's Committee organized the program "Dai Tu Tourism - Spreading Tea Fragrance", attracting a large number of local people and tourists to participate. |
Tea is the main crop in Dai Tu district. By the end of 2024, the total tea area in the district will reach over 6,600 hectares, of which the commercial tea area will be over 6,300 hectares and the hybrid tea area will be 5,300 hectares. The tea area produced according to VietGAP and organic standards will reach over 1,900 hectares; 21 tea products will be OCOP certified with 3-4 stars; 21 tea material areas will be assigned growing area codes. The output of fresh tea buds will reach over 81,300 tons, with the value of tea products reaching VND 2,200 billion/year.
The district has planned 3 concentrated tea production areas associated with tourism development in the communes of Phu Xuyen, La Bang, Hoang Nong, Tan Linh, with a total area of 230 hectares...
However, the district has not yet fully exploited the potential, advantages and value of tea trees; household production accounts for a large proportion. The production scale of cooperatives and enterprises is still small; the connection between enterprises, cooperatives and households is not yet tight. The application of science and technology in production and processing is still limited.
The products are not diverse and rich, there are not many deeply processed products, mainly traditional green tea products. The connection and promotion of production, processing, business and tea culture to consolidate and enhance the brand and production efficiency have not received much attention.
Cau Da hamlet tea area, Hoang Nong commune, Dai Tu, is a beautiful tea area, loved by many tourists. |
Faced with that reality, at the end of March 2025, the Party Executive Committee of Dai Tu district issued Resolution No. 15-NQ/HU on developing tea trees, enhancing the value of tea products, associated with tourism development in Dai Tu district, period 2025-2025.
The content of the Resolution is to focus on the leadership of the Party, promote the combined strength of the political system, the active participation of enterprises, cooperatives and people, develop the tea ecosystem to create a clear change in tea production, processing and trading associated with digital transformation, digital economy, application of science, technology, innovation, promote the potential and advantages of tea production areas, enhance the brand and value of Dai Tu tea products, and actively contribute to the socio-economic development of the district and communes and towns.
By 2030, Dai Tu expects to increase the tea area to 6,800 hectares, of which 70% (about 4,760 hectares) will be certified to GAP or organic standards; 70% of the tea area will be granted a growing area code, contributing to bringing tea products to international markets, especially demanding markets such as the EU or the US.
Fresh tea bud output reaches 90,000 tons/year, an increase of more than 10,000 tons compared to present, raising the total value of the tea industry to 6,500 billion VND, nearly 3 times higher than present. At least 30 OCOP tea products, including 1 product meeting 5-star standards - the highest level of this program.
In particular, Dai Tu will develop four key tea tourism areas in La Bang, Hoang Nong, Phu Xuyen and Tan Linh, with a total area of 230 hectares. These tea fields not only produce delicious tea buds but are also attractive destinations for tourists who love to experience "from farm to cup of tea".

To realize the set goals, Resolution No. 15 proposes a comprehensive and synchronous solution system. The focus is on the application of high technology in production, with the goal that 100% of enterprises and cooperatives will apply digital technology to manage the entire production chain - from care, harvesting to processing and consumption.
At the same time, high-quality tea varieties with outstanding productivity and good resistance to pests and diseases will be given priority for new planting or replacement for old, ineffective tea areas.
Along with production development, Dai Tu will promote the development of agricultural tourism associated with tea trees. On that basis, unique experience tours will be deployed, along with the development of homestay and farmstay systems in key tea growing areas.
Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy local culinary specialties, including many dishes made from tea, in the cool green space of vast tea hills.
In particular, the work of preserving and promoting tea culture will be focused on. The precious ancient tea trees in La Bang and Minh Tien will be proposed for recognition as "Vietnam Heritage Trees", and at the same time, the "Dai Tu Tea Festival" will be held periodically as a special cultural event, introducing domestic and foreign tourists to the quintessence of traditional tea culture.
Comrade Nguyen Manh Hoat, Standing Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Dai Tu District, affirmed: Resolution No. 15 is a stepping stone for Dai Tu to become a center for high-quality tea production and an attractive tourist destination. With a clear roadmap and the participation of the entire political system, we expect to create sustainable livelihoods for the people, the Dai Tu tea brand will not only be famous domestically but will also reach international levels, contributing to making tea a "billion-dollar" tree of Thai Nguyen...
