Expectations for strong tourism growth.

The Provincial People's Committee has just issued a plan to implement Prime Minister's Directive 34/CĐ-TTg dated April 10, 2025, on promoting tourism development and ensuring double-digit economic growth.

Following the provincial directive, departments, agencies, and localities must closely adhere to the policies, plans, and programs for tourism development from the central and provincial governments, as well as the actual conditions of their localities, to implement appropriate and effective tourism development, ensuring synchronicity, sustainability, and integration. Emphasis should be placed on linking tourism with other sectors in the value chain, enhancing capacity, and leveraging the potential, advantages, and traditions of the locality to develop distinctive tourism products, linked to green and sustainable development.

In 2025, the Government aims to welcome 22-23 million international tourists nationwide, serve 130 million domestic tourists, and achieve a 12-13% increase in tourism revenue compared to 2024. This will create momentum for the development of other industries and sectors, contributing positively and effectively to achieving the economic growth target of 8% or more; helping to accelerate breakthroughs, create momentum, and build strength for double-digit growth in subsequent periods, leading the country to rapid and sustainable development in the new era.

2025 is a particularly important year, marking the final year of the 2021-2025 socio-economic development plan. It is also the year when the entire political system, from the central to the local level, will implement a revolution in streamlining organizational structures, hold Party congresses at all levels, and consolidate fundamental elements, creating the foundation for our country to confidently enter a new era – an era of national development, prosperity, and strength. Meanwhile, the global and regional situation continues to be very complex and unpredictable. The global economy in general, and tourism in particular, is recovering slowly and unsustainably, posing many challenges in achieving socio-economic development targets.

For Phu Yen province, 2024 saw significant achievements in its tourism sector, emerging as a bright spot in the region with many encouraging results. For the first time, Phu Yen tourism welcomed nearly 4.1 million visitors, exceeding the plan by 20% and increasing by more than 27% compared to the same period in 2023, making a significant contribution to the local socio-economic development. To maintain this growth momentum and sustainable development, in 2025, Phu Yen's tourism sector must continuously innovate, overcome limitations and shortcomings, focus on developing diverse products and service quality, protect the environment, and more effectively exploit existing potential, contributing significantly to the local growth. To maintain double-digit growth like in 2024, the provincial tourism sector has integrated tourism development planning into the Phu Yen Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, approved by the Prime Minister. Proactively develop a provincial tourism development plan for the period 2024-2030, with a vision to 2050. Alongside this, strengthen tourism promotion and marketing efforts, stimulate demand, and attract tourists; diversify and improve the quality of tourism products and services, creating favorable conditions for tourists to access tourist destinations.

With synchronized solutions and decisive implementation by the entire political system, we expect that Phu Yen's tourism will continue to develop strongly, commensurate with the local potential and advantages, joining the whole country in welcoming 22-23 million international tourists and serving 130 million domestic tourists, making a positive contribution to the overall economic growth target of the country.
