The Asian Mind Sports Games was held for the first time in Singapore, from November 13 to 15. There were 5 competitions taking place at this congress, including chess, Chinese chess, Go, bridge and Rubik's cube.
And this is also the first international tournament that Lai Ly Huynh entered as the "new king" of the world chess village, after he defeated Chinese player Doan Thang in the final of the 2025 World Chess Championship held in September.
On the morning of November 13, Lai Ly Huynh played in the rapid chess event. He faced Lebanese player Abou Eltas and won easily 2-0.
In the next match (also taking place in the morning), Lai Ly Huynh won both games against Sou Chon Hou of Macau.
In the afternoon, Lai Ly Huynh maintained his top form when he defeated Thai An Tuoc (Taiwan) 2-0 in round 3.
Difficulties only really appeared in round 4, when Lai Ly Huynh was held to a 1-1 draw by Hong Kong player To Luat Te.
With that, he has 7 points after 7 rounds, losing the top spot to Chinese player Duong Tu Nam (8 points).

The interesting thing is that Duong Tu Nam is a female player. She is also the only player to maintain a perfect winning record after 4 rounds.
In round 5 taking place on the morning of November 14, Lai Ly Huynh will face a Chinese player for the first time in the tournament, Vuong Vu Bac (also with 7 points).
Although he has not yet faced any powerful Chinese players, Lai Ly Huynh has shown stable performance by maintaining an undefeated record, in which Chinese-speaking countries and territories such as Hong Kong, Taiwan or Macau are no less strong than Vietnam in Chinese chess.
Besides Lai Ly Huynh, two other Vietnamese players, Phan Nguyen Cong Minh and Nguyen Minh Nhat Quang, are also close behind with 6 points.
