Global Petroleum Commercial Joint Stock Bank (GPBank) has just reduced term deposit interest rates for terms from 6-36 months.

According to the online interest rate schedule applied to individual customers receiving interest at the end of the term just announced by GPBank, the interest rate for 6-8 month term deposits has decreased by 0.1%/year to 5.55%/year.

Interest rate for 9-month term deposits decreased by 0.1%/year, down to 5.65%/year.

Interest rates for deposits with terms from 12 to 36 months have also decreased by 0.1%/year to 5.85%/year from today. This is also the highest interest rate announced by GPBank at this time.

Meanwhile, bank interest rates for terms under 6 months remain unchanged. Currently, bank interest rates for terms under 1 month are 0.5%/year (the highest deposit interest rate according to the State Bank's regulations for demand deposits with terms under 1 month).

Bank interest rates for 1-2 month terms remain unchanged at 3.75%/year; 3-month terms at 3.85%/year and 4-5 month terms at 4.1%/year.

GPBank is maintaining a fairly large difference between online deposit interest rates and counter deposit interest rates.

Currently, the interest rate at the counter for 1-2 month term is 3.25%/year; 3-month term is 3.25%/year; 4-5 month term is 3.6%/year.

The interest rate for savings at the counter for a term of 6-8 months is applied at 4.8%/year, for a term of 9 months is 4.9%/year and for a term of 12-36 months is 5.1%/year.

Thus, the interest rate difference between the two forms of mobilization at the counter and online is up to 0.75%/year with a term of 6-36 months.

However, this bank also applies a tiered interest rate policy when customers deposit savings at the counter. For customers depositing from 500 million VND or more, the interest rate received will be 0.25% higher per year. Therefore, the highest savings interest rate when depositing at the counter of GPBank is 5.35% per year if the deposit balance is from 500 million VND.

A month earlier, GPBank also adjusted down interest rates on 2-month, 3-month, and 12-36 month deposits, while increasing interest rates on 1-month and 4-9 month deposits.

GPBank is the third bank to reduce deposit interest rates since the beginning of May, along with MB and Eximbank.

Also during this time, 3 banks increased interest rates: Techcombank, Bac A Bank and Eximbank.
