Global Petroleum Commercial Joint Stock Bank (GPBank) has just unexpectedly increased deposit interest rates for all terms.

According to GPBank's latest online deposit interest rate schedule, deposit interest rates for terms from 1-5 months have been adjusted to increase by 0.2%/year; deposit interest rates for terms from 6-36 months have simultaneously increased by 0.1%/year.

With the above increase, the latest online banking interest rate for 1-2 month term at GPBank is 3.95%/year; 3 month term is 4.05%/year and 4-5 month term is 4.3%/year.

Meanwhile, the latest online savings interest rate for 6-8 month terms at GPBank is 5.65%/year and for 9 month terms is 5.75%/year.

Online deposit interest rates for terms from 12-36 months have all increased to 5.95%/year, after increasing by 0.1%/year.

Similarly, interest rates on deposits at the counter were also increased by 0.2%/year for terms from 1-5 months and increased by 0.1%/year for terms from 6-36 months.

The highest interest rate difference between online and counter deposits is up to 0.75%/year. Currently, the counter deposit interest rate listed by GPBank after the interest rate increase is as follows: 1-2 month term interest rate is 3.45%/year; 3-month term interest rate is 3.55%/year; 4-5 month term interest rate is 3.8%/year.

Interest rate for deposits at the counter for 6-8 month term is 4.9%/year; 9 month term is 5%/year and terms from 12-36 months is 5.2%/year.

GPBank lists deposit interest rates at the counter in a laddered manner. In addition to the above interest rate schedule, the bank also lists deposit interest rates applicable to deposit accounts of VND500 million or more, with interest rates 0.15-0.25% higher per year.

Interest rates for customers who deposit from 500 million VND and receive interest at the end of the term are listed as follows: Interest rate for 6-8 month term is 5.15%/year; 9 month term is 5.25%/year and 12-13 month term is 5.45%/year.

Previously, GPBank reduced 0.1%/year deposit interest rates for terms from 6-36 months from May 19.

With the recent adjustment to increase bank interest rates, GPBank is the first bank to increase deposit interest rates since the beginning of June.

There are two banks that reduced deposit interest rates in June: LPBank (18-60 month term, 0.2%/year reduction) and Bac A Bank (12-36 month term, 0.1%/year reduction).
