Mock-up photos of all four upcoming iPhone 17 models continue to appear, with the most notable confirmation being two important features on the iPhone 17 Air that have not been mentioned before.
Source Sonny Dickson , a technology expert from Australia, has just shared images of dummy models of all 4 iPhone 17 models expected to launch next September.
Dummy models are often created based on leaked designs and specifications, helping accessory makers prepare to produce cases and accessories for the new iPhone.
According to the image shared by Sonny Dickson , consistent with previous rumors, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max both have an elongated rectangular rear camera cluster protrusion, containing 3 camera lenses, LED flash and microphone.
In particular, the iPhone 17 Air also has a similar camera cluster design but only has a single lens.
Finally, the standard iPhone 17 has the same design as its "predecessor" - the iPhone 16.
Based on numerous reports, mockups, leaked CAD images, and dummy models over the past months, these designs appear to be fairly accurate.
MagSafe and Action button on iPhone 17 Air
The most notable point from this dummy model is two new features on the iPhone 17 Air that have never been mentioned before.
First is MagSafe support: There were initial concerns that the iPhone 17 Air might not support MagSafe due to its ultra-thin design, but if the dummy model is accurate, MagSafe will still appear.
Second is the Action button: The button replaces the silent mode toggle. This isn't too surprising since Apple has been gradually moving to the Action button on the iPhone 15 Pro. However, this is the first evidence confirming this change on the iPhone 17 Air.
A previous report also claimed that the iPhone 17 Air will have a Camera Control button, and this dummy model reflects that as well.
When the iPhone 17 models are placed side by side, it can be seen that the iPhone 17 Air is significantly thinner than the other three iPhone 17 models - in line with the rumors about the device's ultra-thin design.
Previously, according to Macrumors, there were 12 features that were expected to appear on Apple's upcoming iPhone 17 Air model.
In particular, it affirms the ultra-thin design with an aluminum frame, instead of a titanium case like Apple's Pro models.
Reports of the iPhone 17 Air's thinness suggest that the 17 Air will be around 6mm. But according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 17 Air could be just 5.5mm thick at its thinnest point. If true, that would make it the thinnest iPhone ever, thinner than the iPhone 6 (6.9mm) from 2014.
At 5.5mm thick, the iPhone 17 Air will be about 30% thinner than the iPhone 16 (7.8mm) and 33% thinner than the iPhone 16 Pro models (8.25mm).
As usual, Apple will launch a new iPhone in September. The 2025 iPhone models are expected to include: the standard iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max and the ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air.
The Information reports that the iPhone 17 Air could cost more than the Pro Max, which currently starts at $1,199. However, analyst Jeff Pu says the 17 Air will be a mid-range iPhone that replaces the Plus model.
Additionally, a report from China says the price of the iPhone 17 Air will be similar to the iPhone 16 Plus, which starts at $899 in the US market.
