At the meeting, relevant departments and branches of the province gave a preliminary report on the status of solid waste management in the province; the policy of attracting investment in solid waste treatment projects in the form of incineration to recover energy (using heat to generate electricity). The Japanese side also presented the environmental treatment capacity of Japanese enterprises. In addition, the Japanese Ministry of Environment introduced preferential policies currently applied to projects invested by Japan, or with joint ventures with Japanese enterprises. At the same time, delegates attending the meeting also discussed quite thoroughly the advantages and difficulties for environmental treatment projects to assess the feasibility of participating in investment research in this field.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Tran Hoa Nam said that currently, the southern part of Khanh Hoa province has a waste treatment plant project in Cam Lam, so only projects in Nha Trang city and the northern part (Ninh Hoa and Van Ninh) of the province are still calling for investment, suitable for the Japanese side to study. The province's viewpoint is prioritizing waste treatment with advanced technology, limiting landfill. To create conditions for the Ministry of Environment and Japanese investors to study and invest, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Hoa Nam assigned the Department of Planning and Investment to directly contact and provide full documents and explain the province's investment attraction mechanisms to Japanese partners.
