According to the reporter of Tin Tuc and Dan Toc newspaper, in the area from Nguyen Co Thach street to Kenh 2 bridge (An Khanh ward), construction barriers were erected on the sidewalk to serve the construction. According to the design, the sidewalk will be expanded with a bicycle lane with a width of 2 m.

According to the Urban Traffic Management and Operation Center (Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction), the project started on October 10 and is expected to be completed within 3 months. The dedicated bicycle lane is nearly 5.8 km long, starting from Nguyen Co Thach Street to D1 Street and vice versa.
The dedicated lane has a design speed of 20 km/h, maximum longitudinal slope of 4%; the section over the bridge is 1.5 m wide. The road surface is built with dense asphalt concrete, with its own identification markings, clearly distinguishing it from the motor vehicle lane, along with a synchronous drainage and lighting system.

A representative of the Urban Traffic Management and Operation Center said that building separate lanes for bicycles aims to encourage people to use environmentally friendly vehicles, contributing to reducing emissions, improving air quality and moving towards a green, sustainable lifestyle.
After the pilot phase, the city will continue to expand this dedicated lane in two directions: From Nguyen Co Thach Street to Saigon River Park (1.4 km long) and from D1 intersection to Vo Nguyen Giap Street connecting An Phu metro station (2.5 km long), expected to start construction in 2026.
