Ms. Lo Thi Na Ly, Vice President of the Provincial Association of Literature and Arts, said: Although the Literary Theory and Criticism Association has only 5 members, the members are always united, actively researching and creating, contributing to serving the political tasks and cultural life of ethnic minorities. Many works have been published in Suoi Reo Magazine and central and local press agencies; some members have also participated in national seminars, spreading the voice of Son La literature widely.
From 2024 to present, members of the Association have actively collected, researched, and published many works, such as: "Writing from the border region"; "Studying Thai ethnic folk literature reflecting the tradition of fighting foreign invaders to protect the Fatherland from ancient times to the present"; The story of the first prize winner; "Xan Luong - Inh Lai canh Ngu Hau" (Luong Son Ba - Chuc Anh Dai and the Snake God)... In addition, dozens of papers have been written for the proceedings of national scientific conferences.
Ms. Hoang Kim Ngoc, Head of the Literary Theory and Criticism Association, has a deep understanding of the culture and folk literature of ethnic minorities in the Northwest, especially the Thai ethnic group. She has worked hard to research and introduce many topics, such as: Son La Literature over 30 years of renovation (1986-2018); "Son La Literature with the resistance war against French colonialism and the historic Dien Bien Phu campaign"; Vietnam - Laos friendship in Son La literature... She also has many articles about typical writers such as Hoang No, Cam Hung, Cam Thi Chieu..., contributing to enriching and diversifying the picture of Son La literature with its rich identity. Ms. Ngoc shared: My articles may not be deep or good, but I always try to fulfill the role of "bridging" the aesthetic ideology between Son La writers and poets with readers and life.
Formerly a Literature teacher at To Hieu High School, despite having held many positions, writer and critic Tran Dai Tao still maintains the habit of reading and writing, especially when he held the position of Chairman of the Provincial Literature and Arts Association and after retirement, he has made many contributions to the province's literature and arts. To date, he has published dozens of works, typically 4 collections of essays and criticism: "Writing from the Hoa Ban region", 3 volumes, published in 2010, 2012, 2016); "The people I love", published in 2021. Through his writings, he clearly portrays the portraits of writers and poets with their own styles, while expressing profound thoughts on the meaning of life, happiness and belief in life. He does not impose a one-sided viewpoint but always points out both the achievements and limitations of each literary period, each author and work.
The collections of literary criticism essays by members of the Association have won many awards at central and local writing competitions, such as: B Prize in the Literature and Arts Award of the Vietnam Association of Literature and Arts of Ethnic Minorities in 2024; A, B, C Prizes, awards for composing and promoting literary, artistic and journalistic works on the theme "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style" in 2025... The works are also available in school libraries, helping teachers and students understand more about the colorful picture of Son La literature in the integration period.
To improve the quality of literary criticism theory, the Provincial Literature and Arts Association continues to implement plans to train young people; organize training courses, creative camps, playgrounds, and awards to encourage creative activities, support access to new works and research documents, and contribute to spreading the value of literature and art.
