More than 160 fish farms on a 1km-long stretch of Chau Doc River are painted in bright colors to attract tourists .
The project to colorize the fish raft village in the Chau Doc River junction area was implemented by the An Giang Trade and Investment Promotion Center to create a new highlight for the typical tourism product of the Mekong Delta. 161 fish rafts stretching over 1 km are covered in colors in the order of red, yellow, orange, green, blue, purple. The location of the fish raft village is on the sightseeing route to learn about and experience the river life and culture of the Cham community in An Giang.
The floating village is located on the Chau Doc River, a branch of the Hau River, in Da Phuoc Town, An Phu District, bordering Chau Doc City. Raising freshwater fish in cages is a traditional occupation, a characteristic of the Mekong River's upstream region. Tourists can visit the floating village by boat, experiencing life on the fish rafts.
The project site is located next to Con Tien Bridge, and visitors can easily see it when crossing the bridge. At night, the colored lights create a shimmering raft village reflecting on the water.
Chau Doc is about 200 km from Ho Chi Minh City, one of two cities in An Giang. In addition to the floating village, Da Phuoc town is also famous for the Cham village along Highway 91C and the Hau River. There are two famous mosques, Ehsan and Sunnah, with unique architecture, where the Cham ethnic community lives.
