The ASEAN Youth Conference 2023 will include panel discussions, workshops and networking sessions on a wide range of topics including economic development, political security and socio-cultural development. Delegates will also develop international project plans and initiatives to address the challenges and seize the opportunities identified in the Youth Declaration.
In his opening remarks at the Conference, Ambassador - Permanent Representative of Indonesia to ASEAN Derry Aman emphasized the importance of youth in today's society, with the growing youth population and the opportunities that youth bring in terms of innovation and economic growth.
Appreciating the initiatives to promote ASEAN youth engagement, Deputy Minister of Coordinating Ministry for Cultural and Human Development of Indonesia, Ms. Woro Srihastuti Sulistyaningrum, called for cooperation, dialogue and innovative partnerships to create an environment where the voices of youth are heard, honored and implemented.
Affirming that "Youth are the future generation of leaders, ensuring a sustainable and self-reliant ASEAN", Ms. Woro Srihastuti Sulistyaningrum said that young people can participate in finding solutions to problems of ASEAN member countries such as economic, geopolitical, security, and socio-cultural challenges.
To unleash the immense potential of youth, ASEAN needs to create space for their active participation and advocacy, as well as listen to their voices and translate their aspirations into concrete actions, according to Crown Prince of Malaysia Tengku Amir Shah Ibni Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj.
The ASEAN Youth Conference 2023 is jointly organized by the ASEAN Youth Organization (AYO), the ASEAN Secretariat, the Coordinating Ministry for Cultural and Human Development of Indonesia, AYO Kreasi Internasional, the Selangor Youth Community, and Museum Bank Indonesia.
