Lao Cai: Strengthening connectivity and developing sustainable Green Tourism

(PLVN) - On June 6, in Lao Cai city, within the framework of the Lao Cai International Tourism Fair 2025, the People's Committee of Lao Cai province held a seminar on "Connecting green tourism development".

The seminar was attended by scientists , managers, domestic and foreign tourism businesses, and sustainable development experts from Thailand, China, and the French Republic.

The seminar aims to introduce the orientation and vision for developing Lao Cai tourism to become a place connecting the region and the world; introduce the development potential and projects calling for investment. The seminar also assesses the current situation and suggests solutions to create breakthroughs in developing green tourism in Lao Cai; at the same time, discusses the trends and needs of the tourism market to promote the role of connecting the region, the region and the world of Lao Cai tourism.

This is an opportunity for delegates to share their visions, experiences and propose specific solutions to jointly build an environmentally friendly tourism ecosystem, in harmony with people, sustainable over time and meeting the green nature-oriented needs of domestic and international tourists.

Speaking at the opening of the seminar, Mr. Hoang Quoc Khanh - Permanent Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee affirmed: In the context of globalization, developing green tourism has become an inevitable trend. Because it not only brings economic benefits, but also contributes to protecting the environment, preserving cultural identity and improving the quality of community life.

In recent years, Lao Cai province has issued many policies and orientations to plan for the development of green and sustainable tourism, while creatively and flexibly applying appropriate solutions to promote the development of the tourism industry in this direction, based on three main pillars: Environment, economy and society.

In which, the environment is the foundation, the core, to protect and preserve the natural beauty, the factor that creates the unique attraction for Lao Cai tourism; the economy is the resource to maintain activities, develop services and improve community life; and society is the building of local communities, preserving traditional culture, raising awareness of people and tourists, helping tourists have authentic, emotional and meaningful experiences on each destination journey.

Through the discussion, it will contribute to further deepening the vision, as well as the core values ​​in persistently maintaining the principles of sustainable development of Lao Cai tourism industry.

Speaking at the seminar, Ms. Cao Thi Ngoc Lan - Permanent Vice President of Vietnam Tourism Association commented: Reality shows that the global environment is facing climate change and profound changes, including the impact of tourism consumption behavior. To overcome this phenomenon, developing "Green Tourism" is no longer an option, but has become an inevitable requirement.

Tourism cannot continue to develop in a model that consumes resources, causes pollution and trades off local culture for short-term growth. Green tourism is a sustainable solution, helping to balance economic development with environmental protection, exploitation and conservation, and immediate benefits with long-term value.

The future of Vietnam’s tourism industry is not only measured by the number of visitors or revenue, but by the extent to which it spreads positive values ​​to people, culture and the environment. Green tourism is the bridge that takes us to that goal.

Seminar on developing green tourism models/products in Lao Cai province

Vietnam Tourism Association commits to be a companion and also a connecting center for all initiatives, models and ideas on green tourism of Vietnamese tourism businesses.
