Lao Cai: Bac Ha commune evacuated 76 households to safety

Implementing storm prevention and control work, especially the circulation of storm No. 3 (Wipha), Bac Ha commune, Lao Cai province has evacuated 76 households in dangerous areas to safe places.

Currently, households have been arranged temporary accommodation at schools and relatives' houses.

To implement measures to prevent and combat natural disasters, the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, members of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue of Bac Ha commune conducted a field inspection in the area.

Direct the organization and implementation with the most urgent, drastic, timely and effective spirit, not to be passive or surprised in responding to natural disasters; especially the risk of rain, floods, landslides, flash floods, and localized flooding to ensure safety of life and limit damage to the people.

Through screening the areas, the authorities discovered 26 landslide-prone areas scattered in villages in the area, with 76 households at risk of being affected if heavy rain continues.

To ensure safety, Bac Ha commune has temporarily relocated all 76 households, with 388 people in the villages to safe locations such as schools, cultural houses, etc. It has placed warning signs and sent forces to be on duty to warn in areas and traffic routes at high risk of landslides.

Continue to monitor and update the developments of floods and rains, based on weather conditions and actual inspections at the locations. If safety is ensured, 76 households currently at the gathering locations will be allowed to return home; at the same time, review and implement long-term safety plans for people and property.
