According to the forecast of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, in 2023, Vietnam may reach the peak of sending workers abroad in 2009, which was 153,000 workers.
Vietnamese workers go abroad to work.
In the first 10 months of 2023, the total number of Vietnamese workers working abroad was 132,600, reaching 120.59% of the annual plan and 117.40% compared to the same period last year. Of which, Japan is the leading market receiving our workers, with more than 67,500 workers; followed by Taiwan (China), more than 50,800 workers, and South Korea with nearly 6,000 workers. Following are the markets of China, Hungary, Singapore, Romania, Poland, Saudi Arabia and other markets.
Mr. Nguyen Gia Liem, Deputy Director of the Department of Overseas Labor Management, Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs said: “After 10 months of sending workers to work abroad, the number has reached 132,600 people. Thus, we have achieved and exceeded the planned target. According to our forecast, we may reach the peak of sending workers to work abroad in 2009, which was 153,000 workers. Workers working abroad are still mainly concentrated in the markets: Japan, Taiwan (China) and Korea. In addition, there are markets in the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. With this number, we hope that in the last months and the following years, we can maintain the number of workers working abroad.”
Mr. Nguyen Gia Liem also said: After the Covid-19 epidemic is controlled, many countries and markets want to receive Vietnamese workers with new agreements.
“Developed countries are facing a declining and aging population. In addition, after the Covid-19 pandemic is under control, the need for economic recovery and development is also very strong. In such a context, they are very short of human resources. This is an opportunity for us to continue to maintain and stabilize the overseas labor market, sending workers to work abroad. Currently, some countries have changed their policies, so they also asked us to sign new cooperation agreements. Even European countries such as Romania, Germany, Russia, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, etc. The same goes for Middle Eastern and African countries, they are also asking us to sign cooperation agreements with them such as Qatar, Kuwait, UAE,” said Mr. Nguyen Gia Liem.
