Ceremony to receive the Provincial Monument Ranking Certificate "Commemoration place for martyrs of Binh Dinh province's youth volunteers"
On the morning of April 29, the People's Committee of Hoai Hao Ward (Hoai Nhon Town) held a ceremony to receive the Provincial Monument Ranking Certificate for "The Memorial Place for Martyrs of Binh Dinh Province Youth Volunteers" ( photo ).
During the resistance war against the US, the Youth Volunteer Force (TNXP) of Binh Dinh province was stationed at Hon Den Mountain (now Hoi Phu Quarter, Hoai Hao Ward). During the Tet Offensive and Uprising in 1968, on February 11, the stationing position of the Youth Volunteer Force was discovered by the enemy. The enemy used bombers and bombardment, causing 13 Youth Volunteer Force leaders to die and 1 soldier to be injured. Afterwards, the martyrs were gathered by their comrades and buried right at the bombed area.
After the country's reunification, some martyrs' remains were brought back to their hometowns by their families, the rest were gathered at the Hoai Hao Ward Martyrs' Cemetery. In order to remember and pay tribute to that great sacrifice, in 2019, the Provincial Association of Former Youth Volunteers coordinated with the People's Committee of Hoai Nhon Town to build two memorial works in Hoai Hao Ward: the Memorial stele at Hon Den Mountain and the Binh Dinh Province Youth Volunteers' Memorial Monument in Hoi Phu Village.
On November 1, 2023, the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province issued Decision No. 4025/QD-UBND ranking the "Binh Dinh Provincial Youth Volunteers' Memorial Site" as a provincial-level historical relic. This is an important "red address", contributing to educating the young generation about patriotism and revolutionary ideals.
At the ceremony, delegates offered flowers and incense to commemorate the heroic martyrs of the Youth Volunteers of Binh Dinh province. On this occasion, Vinh Nguyen Honey Enterprise also presented 5 gifts to former Youth Volunteers in difficult circumstances, expressing their deep gratitude to the previous generation.
