The 169th death anniversary of Mr. Doan Minh Huyen was held from October 1 to 3.

Thoi Son Ward People's Committee (An Giang province) said that in order to show gratitude to the ancestors who reclaimed the land and established the village, the Ward People's Committee will coordinate with departments, branches and organizations to organize the 169th death anniversary of Mr. Doan Minh Huyen (August 12, 1856 - August 12, 2025 lunar calendar, year of At Ty) at Thoi Son Pagoda.

The annual death anniversary of Mr. Doan Minh Huyen is solemnly held, attracting many people and tourists to visit and worship.

According to the plan, the death anniversary will take place over 3 days, from October 1 to 3, 2025 (the 10th, 11th and 12th of the 8th lunar month). The official ceremony will be held at 7:30 a.m. on October 3, 2025 at Thoi Son Pagoda.

Mr. Doan Minh Huyen (born October 15, 1807), from Tong Son village, An Thanh Thuong commune, Sa Dec province (now Dong Thap province). He was the founder of the Buu Son Ky Huong sect; he led followers and people to establish two villages, Hung Thoi and Xuan Son (now Thoi Son ward). At the same time, he established three places of worship: Phuoc Dien Pagoda (Trai Ruong), Thoi Son communal house (Trai Ray) and Thoi Son pagoda (Buddhist pagoda). These places of worship were recognized by the People's Committee of An Giang province as provincial-level revolutionary historical relics according to Decision No. 1910/QD-UBND, dated August 26, 1999.

Every year, the death anniversary of Mr. Doan Minh Huyen attracts over 50,000 followers and tourists to make pilgrimages and worship. This is not only an occasion to remember and express gratitude to the pioneers who founded the village, but also an activity to educate the younger generation about tradition, to arouse the spirit of remembering the source of drinking water, and to promote the cultural and historical values ​​of the locality. This is also an opportunity to combine tourism and service development, contributing to the economic development of Thoi Son ward.
