
Offering incense at the memorial service were comrades: Dang Minh Thong, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; To Thi Bich Chau, former Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Duong Anh Duc, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Head of the Propaganda and Education Commission of the City Party Committee; Nguyen Van Tho, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee; Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee; leaders of departments, branches and a large number of people of the city.

After the flag-raising ceremony, the Head of the Tran Hung Dao Temple Management Board, along with delegates and people, attended the death anniversary ceremony, reviewed the history and traditions of our ancestors' struggle to defend the country, and expressed gratitude for the achievements of Tran Hung Dao and his predecessors and famous generals in repelling foreign invaders, protecting the country, and keeping the borders peaceful.

Saint Tran Hung Dao was born in 1228, his real name was Tran Quoc Tuan, the son of An Sinh Vuong Tran Lieu, from Tuc Mac village, My Loc district, Ha Nam Ninh province (now Ninh Binh province), a descendant of the Tran dynasty's royal family. He was an outstanding general of the Vietnamese people, honored as one of the 10 most talented generals in the world.
Under the leadership of Duc Quoc Cong, the army and people of Dai Viet overcame many difficulties and challenges, defeating the Yuan-Mongol army three times at Chuong Duong, Ham Tu, Thang Long, Bach Dang, and Van Kiep.

In addition to his role as a military genius, Tran Quoc Tuan also compiled two important military books to train Dai Viet generals to lead troops to fight the enemy, namely Binh Thu Yeu Luoc and Van Kiep Tong Bi Truyen Thu , including the famous Proclamation to Soldiers , a heroic piece of literature written by Tran Hung Dao in the late 13th century, thereby passing on national military knowledge, encouraging patriotism and strong fighting spirit of generals and soldiers.
With such great contributions, he was honored as a Saint by the Vietnamese people and temples were built in many places.

The annual death anniversary of Saint Tran Hung Dao is an occasion to commemorate the merits of the national hero and the ancestors who built, defended and protected the country. Every citizen remembers the death anniversary, comes to light incense to commemorate Saint Tran Hung Dao, not only to pay their respects to him but also to express their deep gratitude to the heroic martyrs who died for the independence and freedom of the nation.
The death anniversary is held for 3 days with many activities: traditional singing performances, historical excerpts from the Tran Dynasty, incense offering ceremony, sacrificial program of the Female and Male Worship Committees, Hat Van - Hau Dong rituals, thanksgiving ceremony...
