Traditional swimming festival of Diem Dien town

On the morning of February 21 (January 12 of the year of the Dragon), Thai Thuy district organized a traditional swimming festival on the Diem Ho River. Attending were comrade Ngo Dong Hai, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; comrades of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, leaders of the Provincial People's Council and People's Committee.

Participating in the traditional swimming festival of the spring of Giap Thin 2024 are 120 athletes from 8 swimming teams of residential groups of Diem Dien town and Thai Thuong commune. On each swimming team, there are 15 swimmers, one person steering and one person calling the rhythm, all swimmers are healthy and have good techniques. According to the competition rules, the teams compete on the Diem Ho river, the section adjacent to Diem Dien estuary, in 3.5 laps with a total length of over 4km.

Comrade Ngo Dong Hai, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and delegates attended the opening ceremony of the traditional swimming festival on the Diem Ho River.

At exactly 9:05 a.m., after the command of the organizing committee, the swimmers started, the swimmers focused their efforts towards the sea. The festival took place in a lively and jubilant atmosphere amidst the cheers and encouragement of the people and tourists from all over.

At the end of the competition, the organizing committee awarded first prize to swimming group No. 4, second prize to swimming group Mai Diem, third prize to swimming group Thai Thuong commune, and the remaining swimming groups received consolation prizes.

Thai Thuy district leaders awarded second prize to Mai Diem residential group swimming team. Diem Dien town leaders awarded third prize to Thai Thuong commune swimming team.

The traditional swimming festival on the Diem Ho River is a cultural beauty of the coastal people, commemorating the great contributions of the sages and generations of fathers who fought against foreign invaders and conquered the sea; promoting the spirit of martial arts and promoting the spirit of solidarity. This is the first launching ceremony of the year for all cadres, people, economic sectors, especially the two sectors of exploitation and maritime transport of Thai Thuy district with the wish for a year of favorable weather, good luck for fishermen at sea, and success in aquaculture and fishing.
