Taking place over two days, May 11-12 (April 14-15 of the lunar calendar), to honor maritime cultural beliefs and launch the 2025 seafood harvest season, the festival begins with traditional rituals and flower dances, rowing boats, and releasing flower lanterns.
The fishing festival is a long-standing religious ritual, expressing the fishermen's belief and aspiration for a peaceful sea season, full boats, and national peace and prosperity. This is also an occasion to pay tribute to the God of the South China Sea and commemorate the contributions of our ancestors in reclaiming the sea.
Ha Thon currently has more than 130 offshore fishing vessels, with an annual catch of thousands of tons. Local fishermen actively invest in modern equipment and organize production in united teams, contributing to improving economic efficiency and protecting maritime sovereignty.
This year, the festival is marked by the construction of a "pair of dragons" at the village communal house - a symbol of prosperity and aspiration for development, built from contributions from local people and authorities.
On the morning of May 12, the festival continued with the launch of new fishing activities, drum beating to open the festival, art performances and traditional boat racing on Nhat Le River, concluding a festival imbued with identity, linking culture with marine economic development.
