The 50th anniversary celebration of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification began with a flag-saluting ceremony to the resounding sound of 21 cannon shots to the National Anthem of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
Attending the ceremony were comrades: To Lam, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam ; Luong Cuong, Politburo member, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; Pham Minh Chinh, Politburo member, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; Tran Thanh Man, Politburo member, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
Attending the ceremony were comrades who were leaders of the Party, State, former leaders of the Party and State through the periods; leaders of central departments, ministries, branches, organizations and leaders of some provinces and centrally-run cities; veteran revolutionaries, heroic Vietnamese mothers, heroes of the People's Armed Forces, heroes of labor, generals in the people's armed forces; representatives of soldiers, veterans, former people's police, former youth volunteers, former frontline laborers, forces participating in the Ho Chi Minh Campaign; representatives of families of war invalids, martyrs, families with meritorious services to the country...
Attending the ceremony were leaders of several countries around the world , political parties and many international friends who have supported the Vietnamese people in the struggle for national liberation and nation building; domestic and foreign news agencies and newspapers.

The program of the celebration took place from the morning of April 30, including: Art program, Flag salute ceremony, Speeches by Party and State leaders; speeches by representatives of veterans, representatives of the young generation of Vietnam; parade - march and release of doves.

Attending the ceremony were leaders and former leaders of the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, veteran revolutionaries, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, Heroes of Labor; leaders of central and local ministries, departments and branches; veterans who participated in the Great Spring Victory of 1975, and thousands of guests representing people from all walks of life nationwide.

Attending the ceremony were about 20 international delegations, including 3 high-ranking delegations, 4 delegations at ministerial level or higher, more than 15 political parties from different continents; representatives of more than 20 localities twinned with Ho Chi Minh City and many foreign individuals who contributed to the anti-war movement and the resistance against the war of aggression against Vietnam.
