The launching ceremony of the Swimming Training Campaign for the whole population and the 2024 Ha Nam Province Swimming Competition for Drowning Prevention

Implementing Program No. 962/CTr-UBND dated April 12, 2022 of the Provincial People's Committee promulgating the program of safe swimming to prevent drowning in children in Ha Nam province, period 2021 - 2030 and Plan No. 48/KH-SVHTTDL dated April 25, 2024 of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism on organizing the launching ceremony of the national swimming training to prevent drowning in Ha Nam province in 2024; On July 5, 2024, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized the launching ceremony of the national swimming training and the Swimming Competition to prevent drowning in Ha Nam province in 2024 at Tan Thuy Swimming Pool - Ha Nam Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center. Attending the launching ceremony were leaders of departments, branches, leaders of districts, towns, cities and nearly 150 athletes from districts, towns, cities, businesses, swimming pools in the province and a large number of people.

In recent years, Ha Nam province has organized training courses to improve swimming safety, drowning prevention, and water safety skills for cadres, teachers, instructors, and lifeguards at the grassroots level to effectively implement the program. Guide communes, wards, towns, and schools to have specific plans to implement the program; regularly maintain swimming lessons, disseminate, and propagate water safety skills for children. In addition, it has mobilized organizations and individuals to invest in building swimming pools in communes, wards, towns, and schools, with priority, exemption, and reduction of swimming pool rental fees, and tuition fees for children, to create conditions for children and students to learn and practice swimming. Regularly inspect the implementation of professional regulations to ensure hygiene and safety for swimming, diving, and water recreation facilities in the area, review and warn of risks of unsafety for children in the community, in lakes, ponds, rivers, streams, etc., as well as organize a variety of safe recreational activities for children, especially in the summer.

The launching ceremony of the Swimming Training Campaign and the 2024 Ha Nam Province Swimming Competition for Drowning Prevention aims to promote the benefits and effects of swimming training, safety skills in the water environment, and at the same time, mobilize the whole population to actively practice swimming to improve health, stature, physical strength, and prevent and fight diseases for children and the community. Thereby, promoting the role and responsibility of all levels, sectors, families, schools and the whole society in developing the swimming teaching and learning movement and the work of preventing and fighting drowning, contributing to gradually reducing drowning accidents. At the same time, discovering, training and nurturing individuals with talent and qualities in sports to create a source of athletes for the province to compete in competitions organized by the sector, nationwide and regionally.

Immediately after the launching ceremony, there was a demonstration swimming activity by swimmers from the Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center and the 2024 Ha Nam Province Swimming Tournament for Drowning Prevention with the tournament's contents. In particular, this year's Swimming Tournament had a large number of children aged 5, 6 and 7 participating in the tournament. This year's Ha Nam Province Swimming Tournament for Drowning Prevention 2024 had the participation of nearly 150 athletes from districts, towns, cities, businesses and swimming pools in the province.
