On the morning of June 14, Hung Vuong High School, District 5, Ho Chi Minh City held a gratitude and maturity ceremony for 12th grade students of the 2024-2025 school year.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Truong Thi Bich Thuy, principal of Hung Vuong High School, emphasized:
"When you can count the wrinkles on your mother's face, when you see the gray hair on your father's head, that is the moment you grow up.
When we receive a candy, we know how to appreciate it. Because it is not just the candy, but also the love of the giver. That is maturity.
In legend, a carp must shed all its scales and cut off its fins before it can transform into a dragon. A bird must burn itself to death and endure the pain of the fire before it can transform into a phoenix.
Maturity is when we realize, appreciate and thank what has come into our lives."
Ms. Thuy believes that today's youth have the advantage of being fully educated, living in peace, prosperity, and developing science and technology. Most students have aspirations, dreams, and a desire to contribute, ready to embark on challenging journeys, as Nguyen Cong Tru called out:
" Has a reputation in heaven and earth
Must have a name with the mountains and rivers".
The principal of Hung Vuong High School advised 12th grade students: "But if life does not go as planned, if we are not excellent people, then we should just live and work as a decent citizen, responsible for our own lives and for our loved ones.
As poet Nguyen Si Dai wrote:
"The one who mends the sky and fills the sea
The man who built the ramparts and the citadel
I am just a leaf
My job is green".
Just being green is a way to live beautifully, kids.
If we choose to live as a green leaf, we don't need to change the world , we just need to stay strong, full of faith, live kindly and sincerely in the ever-changing world.
I thank you for coming to this place - a beautiful "Youth Station" - that is Hung Vuong High School.
Tomorrow, leaving "Youth Station" Today, I wish you all good health, perseverance and steadfastness. Out there in the vast world, remember that by your side there is always your mother's arms and your father's strength. I hope that you will be the leaves, the flags, the citizens who will "continue to write the story of peace " for the country.
