Domestic tourists love to experience fruit picking activities at the Hang Kia community tourism site (Mai Chau).

The highlands and temperate climate in the two communes of Hang Kia and Pa Co are favorable conditions for developing and expanding the planting area of cold-resistant fruit trees, such as plums, French peaches, pears, etc. These fruit trees have taken root, grown and developed here for decades, and are commercial crops that have contributed significantly to hunger eradication, poverty reduction, and improving the material life of people in the Mong ethnic minority area. In the two communes, there are currently nearly 70 hectares of plums and hundreds of hectares of peaches. In addition to bringing direct and long-term income to people in difficult areas, the development of peach and plum growing areas has been exploited to serve ecotourism and experiential tourism activities.

At the time when plum and French peach trees are in full harvest, people in the two communes are excited to welcome a bumper crop. Through social networks, information and promotion have been provided, attracting tourists from all three regions of the North, Central and South to visit, explore the nature and people of the land and seize the opportunity to participate in this type of experience.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Linh, a tourist from Cau Giay District ( Hanoi ) shared: I have known about Hang Kia, Pa Co for a long time and chose the right time of summer to bring my whole family up to avoid the heat, enjoy the cool nature and fresh air. Fruit picking is one of the fun and interesting activities when my family and Mong women and children carry baskets on their shoulders to go up the hill to pick peaches and harvest plums, while chatting away. Through this activity, my two children have the opportunity to experience the lives of children of the same age in the highlands.

Formed in the past 10 years, the community tourism model at 2 communes has dozens of households participating in accommodation services, such as: Sung Y Mua, Giang A La, Giang Thi Sao in Hang Kia commune; Phang A Pao, Sung A Chênh in Pa Co commune... In addition to meeting the needs of food - accommodation - rest services, households actively cooperate with members of the cooperative and local people to provide experiential tourism products to visitors.

According to Mr. Dang Tuan Thanh, a tourist from Da Nang, when I came to Pa Co, I was really impressed by the land with the cultural colors of the Mong people. People wear colorful traditional costumes, all activities take place very naturally and everyday. I will also remember the memories of Pa Co with the wonderful experiences of the summer vacation with the locals picking plums, harvesting Shan Tuyet tea, crossing the hills to see the golden ripe rice season, high mountains, blue sky to see the beautiful natural scenery here.

"Experiential activities are also typical tourism products, the core factor attracting tourists" - Mr. Phang A Pao, owner of A Pao Homestay in Cha Day hamlet, Pa Co commune affirmed. Recently, grasping the trend that many tourists are choosing, which is safe agricultural tourism, close to nature, households doing community tourism in the two communes have proactively connected with households with large areas of plum and peach growing to provide experiential services. Visitors are free to explore the activities, harvest and enjoy ripe, crispy, fresh peaches and plums right in the garden. Thereby, groups of friends and families can also create many beautiful, vivid photos when participating in this experiential activity together.

Up to now, community tourism in the two communes has developed strongly, the destinations attract tens of thousands of tourists each year, of which about 60% are international visitors. Comrade Sung A Phu, Chairman of the People's Committee of Pa Co commune, said: Tourism economy not only increases income, changes the quality of life of the Mong people in the two communes but also introduces and promotes nature and people, contributing to preserving indigenous cultural identity.

The post-ripening plum season will last until the end of June, while the French peach and Vietnamese peach harvests are later, around July and August. Combining tourism with agriculture, destinations are building diverse and typical experiential products to attract visitors, helping to prolong their stay. In particular, the experience of picking fruit in the summer is one of the new and unique tourism products that is being loved by tourists, especially domestic tourists.
