Adjusting the structure of the 2025 capacity assessment exam
Dr. Nguyen Quoc Chinh, Director of the Center for Testing and Assessment of Training Quality of Ho Chi Minh National University, said that the National High School Entrance Exam aims to assess candidates' basic abilities for university study: Language use; logical thinking, data processing and problem solving. Accordingly, the National High School Entrance Exam aims to recruit candidates with appropriate abilities, high quality, and suitable for the training program.
In the context of changes in the 2018education program, the structure of the 2025 National High School Exam needs to be adjusted accordingly. Accordingly, VNU-HCM maintains the structure of the Language Use and Mathematics sections, while increasing the number of questions in these two sections to increase the reliability and discrimination of the exam.
The Logic - Data Analysis and Problem Solving section is restructured into the Scientific Thinking section to assess candidates' ability in logic and scientific reasoning when solving real-life situations in the fields of science, technology, economics and society.
Questions in the Scientific Thinking group are different, including scientific, social, technological, and life issues. |
Questions in the Scientific Thinking group are different. This section includes scientific, social, technological, and life issues, not specific knowledge of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography, Economic Education, and Law. The questions provide complete information in the form of data, facts, formulas, definitions, processes, and experimental results. Candidates rely on logical thinking and scientific reasoning to find the rules and solutions.
“The test provides sufficient information and data to ensure that candidates can complete the test. Candidates use the data provided in the test to deduce patterns and solve problems. This does not require candidates to study subjects in depth but must rely on reading comprehension and reasoning skills,” said Dr. Nguyen Quoc Chinh.
According to Dr. Chinh, previously, the National High School Exam in the Problem Solving section was divided into many subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, and Geography. Meanwhile, the 2018 education program allows students to choose a combination of subjects. If the exam structure continues to be applied as in previous years, it will cause difficulties for candidates. Therefore, the 2025 exam structure has been adjusted, assessing the basic and necessary competencies of candidates.
With the above adjustment, VNU-HCM has built a question bank and prepared for the upcoming exam. Through that, VNU-HCM hopes to reach a variety of candidates and recruit quality and suitable human resources.
The location of the National High School Exam has been announced, aiming to reach many candidates across the country. |
