In the most recent participation in March this year, U22 Vietnam, under the leadership of head coach Dinh Hong Vinh, also met three opponents U22 China, U22 Korea and U22 Uzbekistan in a friendly tournament in Yancheng (Jiangsu, China).
U22 Vietnam tied all three opponents and won third place overall. Goalkeeper Cao Van Binh was also voted the best goalkeeper of the tournament by the organizers.
The 2025 Panda Cup friendly tournament is considered an important stepping stone for the participating teams towards the 2026 AFC U23 Championship finals taking place in January 2026. For U22 Vietnam, this is a quality international competition, helping the coaching staff continue to perfect the squad, test personnel and tactics, and is also an important stepping stone before the sprint stage towards the 33rd SEA Games taking place in December.
According to the plan, the Vietnam U22 team will gather again at the same time as the FIFA Days (national team gathering according to FIFA schedule) in November. Therefore, coach Dinh Hong Vinh will continue to lead the team.
