After the sixth day of competition, the Vietnamese sports delegation won an additional 5 gold medals, 11 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals, maintaining its third position on the overall medal table with a total of 40 gold medals, 47 silver medals, and 70 bronze medals.
Indonesia continues to hold second place as its athletes maintain their strong form by winning 13 more gold medals on December 15th, bringing their total to 52 (in addition to 65 silver and 64 bronze medals on the overall medal table).

The host nation Thailand continued to pull ahead of its rivals at the top of the medal table, winning an additional 12 gold medals on December 15th. As of the end of December 15th, Thailand had a total of 145 gold medals, 87 silver medals, and 59 bronze medals.
December 16th was the final day of athletics at the 33rd SEA Games, with a series of finals taking place. The spotlight was on the women's 3,000m steeplechase, where Nguyen Thi Oanh was expected to compete again. Having already won the 5,000m and 10,000m races, Nguyen Thi Oanh could well conclude the 33rd SEA Games with a third gold medal.
In the men's 10,000m, Nguyen Trung Cuong continues to be a highly anticipated contender after his victory in the 3,000m steeplechase. The men's and women's 4x400m relays are also noteworthy. The Vietnamese team boasts experienced athletes such as Tran Nhat Hoang, Ta Ngoc Tuong, Quach Thi Lan, and Nguyen Thi Ngoc.
In canoeing and rowing, Vietnam can expect to compete for gold medals in the men's single sculls, women's double sculls, men's lightweight quadruple sculls, and women's quadruple sculls events.
Besides the flagship sports, the Vietnamese delegation competed in a wide range of other sports such as archery, shooting, chess, fencing, pencak silat, muay, boxing, road cycling, futsal, volleyball, weightlifting, tug-of-war…
