Representing the locality with potential for golf tourism development in Hanoi, Son Tay City Party Secretary Tran Anh Tuan shared: Son Tay currently has Dong Mo golf course - the oldest 55-hole golf course in Hanoi. Every year, this golf course welcomes 12 to 15 thousand foreign visitors, domestic visitors are 5 times this number. However, Mr. Tran Anh Tuan also pointed out some limitations in golf tourism business in the locality, that is, the number of guests staying is still low, only reaching 5% of the number of visitors.
To develop golf tourism in Hanoi more effectively, Chairman of the UNESCO Travel Club Truong Quoc Hung said that, in addition to the advantages of the quality of golf courses, golf tourism in Hanoi still has limitations such as high costs, and the service booking system for groups is still difficult because golf courses still prioritize individual guests. Mr. Truong Quoc Hung suggested that localities developing golf tourism need to form alliances and share to build quality products at good prices.
Sharing the same view, according to Director of Hanoitourist Travel Company Le Hong Thai, localities need to expand their target customers to Taiwan (China) and Europe. In addition, Hanoi should promote the combination of golf tourism development with MICE tourism (tourism combined with conferences, seminars), cultural experience tourism, etc.
