Information before the match Sevilla vs AS Roma
A mouth-watering Europa League final will take place at the Puskas Arena, as six-time champions Sevilla take on Jose Mourinho-led AS Roma, who remain unbeaten in five continental finals.
The two teams that gathered in Budapest both failed domestically but excelled in Europe's second tier, and only one could go home with silverware.
Sevilla will be looking to carry on a proud tradition into the 21st century, with their semi-final win over Juventus taking them to their seventh Europa League final, more than any other club.
Los Rojiblancos have won each of the previous occasions they have reached the final, with the first success coming in 2006, when current captain Jesus Navas helped lift the trophy at the age of 20, after Sevilla eliminated Middlesbrough.
The last victory came three years ago and now the most successful team in the tournament's history ends a difficult 2022-23 campaign with a trip to Hungary – the country hosting the first European final since 1985.
Having eliminated both Manchester United and Juve along the way, Sevilla's semi-final success was their 25th win in their last 28 Europa League games, but now they must prove their mettle on neutral ground against some particularly tough opposition.
While they may still not be able to secure a top-half finish in Spain, Sevilla have lost just twice under Mendilibar as head coach.
While Mendilibar - who will be playing in his first European final - is hoping for Sevilla's lucky number 7, his counterpart Jose Mourinho has won five major UEFA trophies to date.
If Roma succeed this week, Mourinho will become the most decorated coach in the European competition's long history - surpassing Italian maestro Giovanni Trapattoni - and having helped the Giallorossi lift the inaugural Europa Conference League trophy last year, he will also be the first coach to win the Europa League with three different clubs, following previous triumphs with Porto (2003) and Manchester United (2017).
Sitting sixth in Serie A with a game in hand, Roma could finish fifth, but the Europa League winners will qualify directly for the 2023-24 Champions League group stage and Mourinho appears to have banked on things going well at the Puskas Arena before the rumoured exit into the twilight of his career.
Sevilla vs AS Roma squad information
Having been Sevilla's starting goalkeeper since Jose Luis Mendilibar's arrival in Andalucia, Yassine Bounou will replace Marko Dmitrovic, as the Spanish side make a number of changes to the side beaten by Real Madrid on Saturday.
While Joan Jordan and Suso have overcome injuries to return to action, Tanguy Nianzou and Marcao remain doubts and Marcos Acuna is suspended, Mendilibar still have plenty of options to choose from.
Jesus Navas, at 37 years and 191 days, will become the oldest player to start a UEFA Cup or Europa League final.
Rafa Mir will make way for World Cup star Youssef En-Nesyri. The Moroccan striker scored twice in Los Rojiblancos' quarter-final win over Manchester United and once against Juventus in the semi-finals.
Despite long-standing concerns, it looks like Roma mainstay Paulo Dybala will also be in Budapest, after he was given a medical check-up. Having recovered from an ankle injury sustained against Atalanta last month, the agile striker is at least fit enough to come off the bench.
Leonardo Spinazzola also returned in time for the final, having resumed full training earlier in the week, leaving only Rick Karsdorp and Marash Kumbulla sidelined.
Nemanja Matic, goalkeeper Rui Patricio and captain Lorenzo Pellegrini were given a weekend off and will return to the Hungarian capital.
