Thanks to the serious and effective implementation of the emulation movement "Building and managing regular, green, clean and beautiful barracks", up to now, the landscape and environment at agencies and units in the Quang Ninh Military Region have had positive changes, contributing to improving the lives of soldiers, helping officers and soldiers feel secure in their work, striving to excellently complete all assigned tasks.

Barracks refurbishment after storm number 3

Storm No. 3 ( Yagi ) swept through Quang Ninh, causing great damage to people and property. After the storm, many construction items of agencies and units under the Provincial Military Command were seriously affected.

According to statistics from the Provincial Military Command, in agencies and units, 20-100% of the roof area of tiled and corrugated iron roofing structures were blown away by the storm; the plaster ceiling system was broken; glass doors in many areas were blown away and broken; many documents, computers, and printers were severely damaged. The electrical system in the barracks, offices, and rooms was broken. About 90% of the signboards, boards, billboards, and trees around the barracks were broken and tilted. The livestock barns and vegetable gardens of the basic units were severely damaged, and crops and livestock were severely damaged. The estimated damage was about 15.5 billion VND.

Many boards and signs in the military barracks of Quang Yen Town were broken and collapsed due to storm No. 3.

At the Quang Yen Town Military Command - a unit that built a typical green, clean, and beautiful barracks of the provincial armed forces, we can see the heavy destruction caused by the storm. Once a barracks that made a strong impression with its eye-catching green trees and flowers, creating a friendly and harmonious environmental landscape, now all the green trees and ornamental plants were broken and fell. The entire infrastructure was severely damaged. Specifically, the storm broke and fell 12 billboards, 120 green trees and ornamental plants of all kinds; blew off the roofs of the halls, warehouses, car garages, guard houses, dining rooms, and livestock pens; damaged the entire plastic ceiling of the housing area, hall, as well as the entire garden system and growing racks with an area of over 1,000m2 ...

Lieutenant Colonel Ngo Doan Luong, Political Commissar of the Quang Yen Town Military Command, shared: Immediately after the storm passed, the unit mobilized officers and soldiers to participate in cleaning and re-roofing the affected houses. At the same time, the system of trees and signs was rebuilt; new pots were purchased to replace broken pots; the garden system, trellises were renovated and the vegetable garden was replanted to increase the unit's production. Up to now, the unit's barracks have basically been reconstructed to ensure spaciousness and safety. We will continue to build new car garages for officers and soldiers; plant more shade trees, fruit gardens, and medicinal herb gardens in the unit's premises.

Officers and soldiers of Quang Yen Town Military Command replant trees in the barracks.

Like Quang Yen, currently agencies and units in the provincial military are focusing on human and material resources to clean up the environment and renovate infrastructure, aiming to create a green, clean and beautiful environment for the unit.

To keep the barracks always bright, green, clean and beautiful

According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Dap, Head of Logistics - Engineering, Provincial Military Command, the construction and management of regular, green, clean and beautiful barracks is one of the key annual tasks of agencies and units. This movement is also a step to concretize the emulation movement "Determined to Win" and the movement "Military logistics sector follows Uncle Ho's teachings". In order for the movement to truly go into depth, agencies and units in the military to have a regular, green, clean and beautiful appearance, every year, the Party Committee and the Head of the Provincial Military Command issue resolutions to lead the implementation of the movement "Building and managing regular, green, clean and beautiful barracks". The Provincial Military Command periodically organizes the contest "Building and managing regular, green, clean and beautiful barracks" to promote the movement to develop both in breadth and depth.

Implementing the movement, the Provincial Military Command pays attention to planning barracks in accordance with instructions, designing models in accordance with the general planning of the locality. The planning has clear functional zoning, ensuring immediate needs, while expanding and developing in the future. The arrangement of offices, accommodation, and living areas demonstrates regularity, rationality, and science. The system of sports grounds, physical training areas, and internal roads are invested in, renovated, and upgraded. The system of bulletin boards, signs, billboards, and propaganda posters is complete and in accordance with regulations, ensuring consistency in both form, style, and content.

Units proactively set up projects and included them in their construction investment plans, such as building command posts, living and working houses for officers and soldiers, canteens, warehouses, garages, etc. Auxiliary works were gradually invested in, built, renovated and upgraded. For works that could not be repaired, units promoted their internal resources, mobilized many working days of soldiers, combined with regular investment in funds to do a good job of preservation, anti-leakage, anti-collapse, whitewashing, minimizing cases of wall cracks and mold.

Along with the construction and consolidation of the barracks, the work of ensuring a green, clean and beautiful barracks environment is also of concern to the units. The environmental landscape, the sanitation of the dining room, kitchen, bathing area, and livestock barns are regularly given importance. Waste is collected and treated promptly. The drainage system does not stagnate. In particular, the organization of soldiers to plant trees, ornamental plants, and build medicinal herb gardens in the barracks is regularly organized, both creating an environmental landscape and bringing practical benefits to all units.

It can be affirmed that the emulation movement "Building regular, green, clean, and beautiful barracks" has fundamentally changed the appearance of barracks of units in the armed forces, contributing to building regular, comprehensively strong, exemplary, and typical units, as well as building an increasingly regular, elite, and modern army.
