Promoting transport infrastructure cooperation with IHI Group
Previously, the Long An delegation visited and worked with IHI Corporation in Tokyo. This is a leading Japanese corporation, operating in the fields of aerospace, energy, infrastructure, industrial machinery and shipbuilding.
IHI has carried out many key projects such as the Akashi Kaikyō Bridge - the longest suspension bridge in the world and the V2500 engine equipped for the Airbus A320. In Vietnam, IHI has participated in projects such as Nhat Tan Bridge, Binh Bridge and Vung Ang and Van Phong 1 Thermal Power Plants.
At the meeting, representatives of IHI Group expressed their desire to cooperate in investing in transportation projects in Long An, including National Highway 1 and other key routes. IHI proposed applying modern technical solutions to treat weak soil, improve the durability and load-bearing capacity of the project.
Mr. Truong Van Liep provided more information about the development orientation of 6 dynamic axes according to the planning of Long An province for the period 2021 - 2025, with a vision to 2050. These are important traffic routes connecting Long An with Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring localities, contributing to the formation of a modern traffic network for the whole region.
Long An province delegation worked with Feager Group.
Long An province expects that with its capacity and experience, IHI Group will participate in consulting, investing and implementing projects in important driving forces. The provincial government is committed to creating favorable conditions in terms of mechanisms, policies and procedural support for IHI to effectively implement infrastructure investment projects in the locality.
Also on the same day, the delegation had a working session with Feager Corporation - a pioneer in decarbonized agriculture in Japan. Feager specializes in supporting businesses and farmers to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and convert them into internationally recognized carbon credits.
In Vietnam, Feager has implemented many emission-reducing agricultural production models, helping farmers improve production efficiency and income from carbon credits. Ms. Dinh Thi Phuong Khanh said that on September 13, 2024, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Long An province signed a memorandum of understanding with Feager to test a rice production model using the "alternate flooding and drying" method - a technique that saves water and reduces methane emissions.
The project has been piloted on 100,000 hectares in Chau Thanh and Vinh Hung districts. The first rice crop has yielded positive results, demonstrating its effectiveness in saving resources and minimizing environmental impacts.
In the coming time, the two sides will continue to monitor and evaluate the next harvests to complete the carbon credit certification process, moving towards expanding the model to the entire province.
Feager is committed to providing technical support, training farmers and connecting with international organizations to promote carbon credit trading. The project is expected to contribute to making Long An a leading locality in green agriculture, while expanding international cooperation in this field.
