Solemnly held the 50th Anniversary of Ham Tan District Liberation Day

Attending the ceremony were comrades: Tieu Hong Phuc - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Nguyen Hong Hai - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Vo Thanh Binh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, former Secretary of Ham Tan District Party Committee. Also attending the ceremony were leaders of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, departments, units, localities in the province and Xuan Loc district ( Dong Nai ).

On the side of Ham Tan district, there were Secretary of the District Party Committee Nguyen Tan Le - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, along with leaders and former leaders of the district since the separation to establish Ham Tan district (new) until now. In addition, there were representatives of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the Armed Forces, policy families, exemplary revolutionary contributors and leaders of departments, units, organizations, mass associations, enterprises... in the district.

Delivering a speech at the ceremony, Secretary of the District Party Committee Nguyen Tan Le said that this was an opportunity to review the 21-year journey of fighting the US to save the country, full of sacrifices and hardships, but with great pride. At the same time, he respected the great sacrifices and losses of the army and people of Ham Tan, who together with the army and people in the province and the whole country contributed to the great victory of the Spring of 1975. This was also an opportunity to look back on the 50-year journey of building and developing the homeland with many difficulties and challenges, but with great achievements, creating a solid foundation for the future...

According to local leaders, in the spirit of the army and people of the whole country in the April days of the historic Ho Chi Minh campaign, April 22, 1975 was chosen as the Liberation Day of Ham Tan district. In recognition of their contributions and achievements in the fight against the US to save the country, the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam decided to award the army and people of Ham Tan district the "Citadel Medal" of the third class...

Immediately after the victory of the resistance war against the US, the Party Committee and people of Ham Tan focused their efforts, quickly overcame the consequences of war, built and protected the young government, restored production, and stabilized people's lives. In order to meet the requirements of management, effectively exploit potentials and advantages, increase investment and development, and meet the aspirations of the cadres and people of Ham Tan - La Gi, on September 5, 2005, the Government issued a Decree on the establishment of La Gi town on the basis of adjusting the administrative boundaries of Ham Tan district. And since December 1, 2005, the apparatus of Ham Tan district (new) officially came into operation.

After adjusting administrative boundaries, Ham Tan district (new) continued to respond to and implement the Party's innovation, all levels of sectors and people here have overcome difficulties, promoted internal resources, attracted external resources to build the district to continuously develop in all fields. From the poorest mountainous district in Binh Thuan (with a poverty rate of more than 21%), but thanks to the attention, direction and support of the province and with determination, solidarity, and efforts to overcome difficulties, Ham Tan has now achieved many very encouraging results.

The economic structure has shifted in the right direction, the manufacturing sectors have grown quite well, the budget revenue in 2024 increased nearly 13 times compared to 2005. From small-scale industry, up to now, the district has planned 3 industrial parks, 5 industrial clusters and trade and services are also increasingly developing. Tourism has gone from having nothing to now having 15 approved investment projects that are still in effect and 1 community tourism spot, while agricultural - forestry - fishery production has developed quite positively. Along with that, jobs, income, and economic life of the people have improved significantly, the technical infrastructure system has been invested more, culture - society has also made many advances. National defense - security has been strengthened, political security, social order and safety have been maintained and up to now, the whole district has 1 commune meeting the advanced new rural standards, 6/8 communes meeting the new rural standards and 2 towns meeting the civilized urban standards. In particular, the poverty rate in Ham Tan has decreased sharply from 21.2% in 2005 (according to the old standard) to below 1.06% in 2024 (according to the new standard)...

On this occasion, Secretary of the District Party Committee Nguyen Tan Le called on all cadres, party members, compatriots, soldiers and people of the district to strengthen the great national unity bloc, strongly promote the spirit of patriotism, self-reliance, and promote the emulation movement to achieve outstanding achievements in socio-economic development and build Ham Tan to become increasingly rich, beautiful and civilized.

Speaking at the ceremony, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Tieu Hong Phuc, on behalf of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, acknowledged, congratulated and commended the spirit of solidarity, efforts and achievements that the Party Committee, government, army and people of Ham Tan district have achieved in the past time... To build the homeland to become more and more prosperous, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council requested the locality to unite and join forces with the province and the whole country to complete on schedule and with quality the goals and tasks set out in the arrangement of the apparatus and administrative units at all levels.

At the same time, continue to care for and improve people's lives as well as do a good job of gratitude, eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses and focus on strengthening solutions to ensure national defense - security, maintain political security, social order and safety in the area... With the glorious revolutionary tradition and proud achievements, aspirations and determination, bravery and willpower, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Tieu Hong Phuc believes that the locality will develop further in the coming time.
