Continuous efforts from government and community
In recent years, Binh Thuan has issued many specific policies and plans to strengthen the work of preventing and combating domestic violence. A typical example is the 2025 plan for preventing and combating domestic violence with the goal of protecting and providing legal assistance to 95% of people who suffer from domestic violence. The province also focuses on organizing diverse communication activities to raise public awareness of this issue and encourage the building of sustainable family models. Notably, it has focused on propaganda in forms suitable to the actual situation of the locality such as: Through activities among the people, activities of religious and ethnic organizations, typical people, propaganda teams, on the website of the Front and its member organizations, Zalo pages, Facebook, members of public opinion groups... to widely propagate among cadres, party members, union members, association members and the people. Through that, more than 560 propaganda and dissemination sessions were organized, attracting more than 32,000 participants, gradually creating a step-by-step change in the awareness and actions of each cadre and people about family building in the new period.
In addition, the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee also organized 2 seminars on solutions to promote the movement "Exemplary grandparents and parents, filial children" in the province in 2023 with more than 300 participants. Thereby, contributing to improving the effectiveness of moraleducation for each cadre, union member, association member and people in building moral lifestyle in the family and community, contributing to the good implementation of the Law on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control in the community and improving the quality of building the title "Cultural Family" today...
Many challenges remain
Thanks to the participation of the entire political system and the community, the work of preventing and combating domestic violence in Binh Thuan has achieved remarkable initial results. According to current statistics, the rate of domestic violence victims detected and accessing basic support services is 84%, while the rate of perpetrators receiving counseling is 88%. This shows the province's efforts in detecting, intervening and supporting victims, while helping perpetrators realize their mistakes and change their behavior. In addition, the two pilot models of "Solidarity residential areas to implement prosperous, progressive, equal and happy families" previously deployed by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in the two districts of Ham Thuan Nam and Bac Binh continue to operate until now...
However, in addition to the achievements, the work of preventing and combating domestic violence in Binh Thuan still faces many challenges. One of the biggest challenges is social prejudice and backward notions about the role of women in the family. Many people still think that domestic violence is a “private matter” of each family, should not intervene or consider “disciplining” wives and children with violence as normal. Moreover, the lack of resources, especially specialized staff and victim support services is also a significant obstacle. Many localities, especially remote areas, still lack counseling facilities, legal support and shelters for victims of domestic violence...
In order for the work of gender equality and gender equality in Binh Thuan to be more effective, more synchronous and drastic solutions are needed.
