Entering the 2024-2025 winter-spring rice crop, Tran Yen district (Yen Bai province) faced many difficulties due to the damage caused by the circulation of storm No. 3 (storm YAGI ).
The entire district has 785,850 hectares of rice damaged, of which 142,379 hectares were buried and had to be renovated, and 35 irrigation works were damaged. To ensure the area as well as the crop schedule, Tran Yen district has directed specialized agencies and commune authorities to focus on urgently overcoming difficulties.
Prioritizing the restoration of flooded, lightly buried areas to promptly put them into production, the district also supported 44,914 kg of rice seeds for the people.
Thanks to the effective implementation of production direction, Tran Yen district completed the planting of 2,098.6 hectares of spring rice according to plan, 100% of the area has guaranteed water for irrigation. Through monitoring, the rice fields are currently growing well.

Affected by the circulation of storm No. 3 since September 2024, Ms. Vi Thi Nhu's family, Quyet Thang village (Y Can commune, Tran Yen district, Yen Bai province) had 7 sao of rice fields flooded and buried by mud.
Immediately after the natural disaster, her family mobilized manpower to renovate the fields and repair the irrigation system to promptly serve the 2024-2025 winter-spring crop production.
Taking advantage of the favorable weather these days, her family and other households in the village have focused on fertilizing, weeding and implementing pest control measures according to the instructions of experts.
Mrs. Nhu shared that storm No. 3 caused heavy damage to the people. With the attention of the local government, the farmers have done a good job of improving the fields. Currently, the farmers are taking care of the rice by fertilizing and weeding.
"My family and the villagers are following the instructions of the Party Committee and local authorities to take care of the rice to achieve the best results and high productivity." Mrs. Nhu said excitedly.

Also due to the impact of storm No. 3, rice fields and irrigation systems of Thanh Thinh commune were severely damaged.
To restore production soon, the commune government has effectively used support resources from higher levels and mobilized people to donate land to repair, expand and upgrade 2.5 km of irrigation canals to ensure water sources for winter-spring rice production.
Thanh Thinh commune also coordinated with the district's specialized departments to guide people to renovate flooded rice fields, provide adequate seed structure according to the support policy of the superiors so that people can sow and plant in time to ensure the correct crop schedule.
Mr. Dang Van Tan, Secretary of the Party Cell of Phu My Village (Thanh Thinh Commune, Tran Yen District, Yen Bai Province) shared: "With the attention of all sectors and levels, the villagers have been provided with sufficient rice seeds. Regarding the damaged irrigation works, investment has been made to repair and build nearly 1km of new intra-field canals to serve irrigation and agricultural production for the villagers.
Up to now, people are very excited when the State's investment and people's efforts to overcome the consequences of natural disasters are bringing good results with very positive signs."

Thanks to effective implementation of natural disaster recovery work, Thanh Thinh commune has completed planting more than 120 hectares of winter-spring rice.
All rice fields are growing and developing well. In the coming time, the commune will continue to coordinate with specialized agencies to guide people to take good care of winter-spring rice fields, striving for spring rice yield of 57 quintals/ha, output of 689 tons.
Ms. Doan Thu Phuong, Vice Chairman of Thanh Thinh Commune People's Committee added. "The local government has also directed the villages and coordinated with organizations to propagate and mobilize people to take care of rice plants and how to prevent pests and fertilize properly. The commune's irrigation system must also be guaranteed for the people."

To ensure good growth of winter-spring rice, the Department of Agriculture of Tran Yen district is focusing on coordinating with the People's Committees of communes to guide farmers in rice care.
Continue to direct agricultural extension teams at the grassroots level to strengthen field inspections, grasp the situation of water sources for rice irrigation; actively and proactively implement measures to care for and effectively prevent rice pests and diseases right from the beginning of the crop, considering it a decisive factor to achieve productivity and quality in this year's spring rice crop.
Speaking to reporters, Ms. Hoang Thi Anh Tuyet, Deputy Director of the Center for Agricultural Development Support and Services in Tran Yen district, said that the unit has coordinated with the People's Committees of communes to organize propaganda and guide people to sow and plant in accordance with the correct crop schedule and variety structure.

"We have instructed people to properly implement intensive farming techniques, especially in fields affected by storm No. 3. To ensure productivity and output in this winter-spring crop, we will continue to instruct people to regularly visit fields to detect pests and diseases early, thereby having timely prevention and control plans," Ms. Tuyet emphasized.
