According to Mr. Dong, the fire originated at the foot of Vinh Phu village. Then, carried by the wind, it spread upwards towards Phat Tich mountain. On Mount Phat Tich, where the fire occurred, lies the famous Phat Tich Pagoda, renowned for its rich history and the colossal Buddha statue atop the mountain. This is one of the largest stone statues in Vietnam. Many people are concerned that the fire will affect the Amitabha Buddha statue, which is 27 meters tall and weighs 3,000 tons.
Regarding this matter, in an interview with Dan Viet, Venerable Thich Giac Tinh, Deputy Abbot of Phat Tich Pagoda, said: "When the fire got big, the pagoda only found out about it at 8 am." However, because the fire occurred on the side of the mountain in Vinh Phu village, when the fire spread close to the base of the Amitabha Buddha statue, it was controlled by the authorities and the people, so it did not affect the historical relics of Phat Tich Pagoda.
