The People's Public Security Force must always maintain a strong people's security posture.

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025), the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), the 80th anniversary of the People's Public Security Traditional Day (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025), and the 20th anniversary of the National Day for National Security Protection (August 19, 2005 - August 19, 2025), on the morning of August 16, in Hanoi, General Secretary To Lam met with retired senior public security officers.

Attending the event were former Politburo members: Former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, former Standing member of the Secretariat Le Hong Anh; Politburo members, Party Central Committee Secretaries: Head of the Central Organization Committee Le Minh Hung, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Committee Phan Dinh Trac, Head of the Central Inspection Committee Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Committee Nguyen Trong Nghia, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien; Politburo members: Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh , Minister of Public Security - General Luong Tam Quang, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen.

Party Central Committee Secretaries: Chief of the Party Central Committee Office Le Hoai Trung, Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court Le Minh Tri, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army - General Trinh Van Quyet; Party Central Committee members: Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai, leaders of central and local departments, ministries, branches, agencies, leaders and former leaders of the Ministry of Public Security and units under the Ministry of Public Security also attended.

On this occasion, the Ministry of Public Security held a ceremony to posthumously award the title of “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” to Senior Lieutenant General Le Minh Huong, Politburo member and late Minister of Public Security. On behalf of the Party and State leaders, General Secretary To Lam presented the title of “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” to the family representative of the late Minister of Public Security Le Minh Huong.

At the meeting, retired police officers spoke sincerely and passionately; expressing more confidence in the revolutionary cause of the Party and the people, and hope for a bright future for the country.

Speaking at the meeting, General Secretary To Lam expressed his emotion when meeting the generals, senior officers, and Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, who have contributed to writing the glorious and glorious history of the Vietnam People's Public Security Forces, and have devoted their talents, strength, and a portion of their blood and bones so that the country can blossom and bear fruit, steadily entering a new era, an era of peace, prosperity, sustainable development, and longevity.

The General Secretary emphasized that over the past 80 years, generations of generals and senior officers of the People's Public Security have played a particularly important role, not only as excellent commanders on the front line of protecting national security and social order and safety, but also as shining examples of morality, personality, and absolute loyalty to the Party, the Fatherland and the people.

On behalf of the Party, State and people, the General Secretary expressed his deep gratitude to generations of generals and senior officers of the People's Public Security, who have devoted their entire lives to the glorious cause of the People's Public Security force and the Vietnamese revolution.

At the meeting, the General Secretary informed about some achievements as well as some orientations for national development in the coming time, especially striving to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and preparing well to successfully organize the 14th National Party Congress, ensuring the successful implementation of the two 100-year goals set by the Party, especially the task of maintaining peace, stability, and social order; developing the country quickly, sustainably and constantly improving the material and spiritual life of the people.

The General Secretary affirmed that during nearly a century following the Party, the police force has grown remarkably, many generals and police officers have become high-ranking leaders of the Party and the State, and the People's Police force has grown stronger and more mature. The Party and the State have awarded many noble awards to the People's Police force. But the most precious and sacred thing is that the People's Police are trusted by the Party and the people. The People's Police are truly children of the people, born from the people, fighting and sacrificing for the people, serving for the people.

The General Secretary noted that today, our country is entering a new stage of development. In that context, the People's Public Security force must continue to affirm its role as a "steel shield" and "sword" to protect the Party, protect the regime, and protect the people; must always be proactive, sensitive, creative, and determined to defeat all plots and tricks of the enemy, maintain national security, social order and safety, and create a peaceful and stable environment for national development.

The General Secretary affirmed that the generals and senior officers are valuable assets of the People's Public Security force and of the entire nation: Whether they have retired or are still in leadership and command positions, they hope to continue to promote the quality of "People's Public Security serving the people"; continue to be a reliable support, a spiritual support for the younger generation; with their experience, intelligence, and prestige, contribute to training, fostering, inspiring, and passing on their profession to the next generation of cadres; be steadfast in political mettle, exemplary in morality, and pure in lifestyle; help the younger generations deeply realize that: "To be a revolutionary Public Security officer, the essential thing is to be absolutely loyal to the Party, the Fatherland, and the people, to sacrifice for the people, and to fight for the people.

The General Secretary pointed out eight lessons learned in 80 years of building, fighting and growing up of the People's Public Security force, which are absolute loyalty to the Party, the Fatherland and the people, taking the revolutionary ideal and national interests as the guiding principle for action; being closely attached to the people - relying on the people, serving the people, taking the people's trust as a solid fortress in performing tasks; steadfast in political will, steadfast in the face of all fluctuations, not being bribed, not being swayed, each individual is a steel shield against all methods of attack by the enemy; proactively grasping the situation - forecasting and preventing early, from afar, from the source of all risks threatening national security.

The police force has combined political, legal and professional strength, handled cases promptly, in accordance with the law, and achieved high efficiency; united internally, unified will and action, promoted collective strength, maintained strict discipline; continuously studied, trained, and modernized professional skills - always adapted to new situations, technologies, and crime methods, but most importantly, modernized people according to the motto "people first - guns later"; closely combined security with socio-economic development, ensuring a stable environment for the country to grow according to the motto "stability for development and development for stability".

Our country is entering a new era of development, the era of building a rich, powerful, civilized and happy Vietnam, requiring the People's Public Security force to always be proactive in attacking and maintaining a solid people's security posture. The General Secretary emphasized that the Party, the State and the people always put their full trust in the People's Public Security force. That trust does not come naturally, but is built from the blood, sweat, tears and intelligence of many generations of People's Public Security officers and soldiers. The General Secretary believes that under the absolute, comprehensive and direct leadership in all aspects of the Party, the People's Public Security force will continue to excellently fulfill all assigned tasks, worthy of the trust of the Party, the State and the people.

At the meeting, General Luong Tam Quang, Politburo member, Secretary of the Central Public Security Party Committee, Minister of Public Security affirmed that he would direct the entire People's Public Security force to thoroughly grasp and seriously implement the General Secretary's instructions, especially the eight valuable lessons; emphasizing that the General Secretary's opinions are very important orientations for the People's Public Security force in general, and generals in particular, to continue to promote the glorious heroic tradition, strive to excellently complete all assigned tasks.

On this occasion, the Ministry of Public Security presented delegates with the book: "When people need, when people are in trouble, there is the Police".
