Commune and ward forces in Da Nang deal with beggars and tourists harassment

During the reorganization of the tourism order handling force, the forces of wards, communes, and special zones in Da Nang will be responsible for handling arising problems such as touts, towing, and harassment of tourists.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online on the morning of July 29, Mr. Van Ba Son, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City, said that he had just sent a document to the People's Committees of wards, communes and special zones to provide (temporary) guidance on the implementation of the transition of state management of tourist areas, destinations and tourism environment.

According to Mr. Son, while waiting for the reinforcement of forces from higher levels, the People's Committees of communes and wards in Da Nang are organized to inspect tourism activities in the area.

Authorities are authorized to inspect and handle service establishments and tourist attractions that operate spontaneously and do not meet the required business conditions; especially those that operate risky businesses, entertainment activities, and tourism products that pose a risk to the lives and health of tourists.

Strengthen inspection of compliance with regulations on tourism environment, security and order, and regulations on management and public posting of prices and fees for services at tourist establishments; strictly handle violations of the law according to regulations.

In particular, local forces also checked and handled solicitation, street vending, and begging that caused trouble for tourists.

Set up websites, hotlines and announce information channels on media at tourism businesses, tourist areas and attractions so that tourists and residents can easily contact and report when there are violations of security and order...

Mr. Van Ba Son said that although the tourism industry has made great efforts, the situation of begging, harassing tourists, and street vendors still annoys tourists and affects the tourism environment in Da Nang.

"Currently, the department is advising the city on a rapid response force to handle tourism order.

"The authority of the forces in the communes and wards is limited, the work is too much, the regime for some forces is not high while security and order issues in tourism appear continuously and are complicated," said Mr. Son.
