Attracting low season tourists

Da Nang tourism is making efforts to attract tourists as it enters the low season and there is still room for promotion from the international tourist market.

Positive signal

Normally, around after National Day (September 2), Da Nang tourism gradually enters the low season due to unfavorable weather and the domestic tourist market starting to decline.

However, with many promotional efforts and the consolidation of Quang Nam tourism, local tourism is recording signs of improvement even during the low season. According to many accommodation establishments in Ngu Hanh Son ward, Hoi An, Hoi An Dong, Hoi An Tay, the number of international visitors staying in the past time and booking rooms until the end of the year is at a good rate, with a fairly high room occupancy rate.

Statistics show that in October, the number of visitors staying in Da Nang is estimated at more than 1.3 million, an increase of more than 25% over the same period in 2024. Notably, international visitors reached about 614 thousand, higher than the previous month and an increase of more than 28% over the same period in 2024. In addition, the number of tourists on tours served by travel agencies in October is estimated at more than 115 thousand, while tourism service revenue in October is estimated at 318 billion VND, these indicators all increased by about 20% over the same period.

Traditionally, this is also the time when the international tourist season is entering, so Da Nang tourism is promoting many solutions to exploit this market to the fullest. Notably, efforts are being made to promote potential international tourist markets with a large number of visitors to Da Nang.

For the Southeast Asian market, Vietjet Air has just opened a flight route from Da Nang to Kuala Lumpur (from October 26), and Da Nang has also welcomed a group of KOLs (people with influence on social networks) and travel famtrip groups from the market to experience and expand cooperation.

Also in October, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized a promotional booth at the ITB Asia 2025 Fair (Singapore) - the leading trade and tourism fair in the Asia-Pacific region to promote "New Da Nang - new experiences" with the city's strong products after the merger.

Currently, the city is also maintaining the program "I love Da Nang - I love Da Nang" to attract international visitors who have been to Da Nang to return to this destination. In particular, focusing on some key markets such as China, Korea, Japan, ASEAN... and international visitors to Da Nang on new routes in 2025. In particular, depending on the market preferences, visitors will have their own highlights and gifts suitable for the market.

Regarding the European market, Mr. Le Quoc Viet, Chairman of the Quang Nam Destination Club preserving local values ​​(Da Nang City Tourism Association) said: "We are coordinating with the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Center and some partners in Europe to welcome about 20,000 international retirees in this area for long-term stays of 1 month or more in Da Nang."

There is still a lot of room

According to Mr. Le Quoc Viet, Da Nang still has a lot of room to reduce the difference in the number of visitors during the low season. There needs to be more solutions to attract winter vacationers and visitors with long-term vacation needs in Da Nang from some markets with high demand such as Japan, Australia, Northern Europe, etc. "In the long term, it is necessary to study a more special mechanism on visas (currently 45 days) to attract a large number of these visitors," Mr. Viet suggested.

Regarding specific products, the representative of VITRACO Transport and Tourism Company Limited suggested that Da Nang has many advantages to be able to research and promote the model "Winter retirement in Da Nang" for the Japanese tourist market. This product package will provide accommodation, retirement, and health care services that meet standards. The exploitation period is from November to March next year (winter time in Japan).

Recently, Da Nang tourism industry has also been actively promoting MICE tourism (tourism combining events - conferences - seminars) to become a pillar of the city's tourism. This is also considered a type of tourism that adapts well to unfavorable weather conditions in Da Nang. In 2025, Da Nang tourism industry aims to welcome about 80,000 MICE visitors, an increase of 11% compared to the previous year.

According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Da Nang currently owns the largest number of high-end accommodation facilities in the country, along with many prestigious companies and event organizing partners with a number of attractive incentive policies for MICE types, so it is expected that in the coming time it will continue to be the leading destination for MICE tourism in Vietnam.
