Mr. Zoram Buon, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hung Son Commune, said that after the heavy rain that lasted from mid-October until now, about 220 landslides appeared on key traffic routes.
Up to now, DT606 route can be used by motorbike from the center of Tay Giang commune to A Choong village (Hung Son commune). DH4 route is still not open due to the large amount of rock and soil that has fallen down and the roadbed is broken.
The locality has just opened step 1 to 10/24 villages, the remaining routes are still in disarray due to serious landslides, especially at 10 points where the roadbed is completely broken.
Landslides buried and completely damaged irrigation works and domestic water systems; threatening the safety of many administrative offices, schools and residential areas. Preliminary statistics show that 28 houses suffered 50-70% damage, 92 households with 380 people were forced to relocate and evacuate urgently. The total damage caused by heavy rains in the commune is estimated at more than 122.6 billion VND.
“With the spirit of not waiting, we strive to reach isolated areas, promptly support and encourage households whose houses have been damaged, and provide food to people. At the same time, we mobilize shock troops to reinstall self-flowing water pipes so that we can soon have a source of water for daily use,” said Mr. Buon.

The biggest concern of the Hung Son commune authorities at present is that the local food supply has not been able to meet demand. The reason is that the traffic has been cut off for nearly 15 days. Worryingly, storm No. 13 is about to make landfall, with the risk of prolonged heavy rain, landslides, and isolation continuing to recur.
Party Secretary of Hung Son Commune Nguyen An said that from the emergency support of 2 billion VND from the People's Committee of Da Nang City, the locality urgently made a plan to allocate 1 billion VND to buy food and provisions.
To bring goods to the commune center, the locality will mobilize armed forces, shock troops, people, and businesses to participate in the transfer by motorbike through landslide locations.
“The amount of goods purchased this time can only solve the food shortage in the commune in a short time. The locality hopes that the city will continue to pay attention to supporting food and means of transportation to ensure the lives of people in isolated areas affected by natural disasters,” said Mr. An.
Mr. Nguyen An added that in order to respond to storm No. 13, the entire local political system has promoted the highest sense of responsibility, closely followed each residential area and proactively evacuated households in areas at risk of landslides to safe places. The highest goal is to not let any people fall into danger or hunger during the storm.
