Multiple sources have confirmed that the Croatian superstar has reached an agreement with Real Madrid to extend his contract and will stay at the club until 2024.

Modric just won the Spanish King's Cup with Real Madrid.

According to Relevo , the terms have been agreed and both parties have approved the drafted contract. The 37-year-old will be the second highest paid player at the club, behind only Karim Benzema and Eden Hazard.

Modric's current contract with Real Madrid expires in June this year. The Croatian midfielder will sign a contract extension in the coming days, expected before the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Man City (May 10).

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has been working with Modric since a month ago when it was reported that a Saudi Arabian club had made a €40 million offer for the midfielder. The negotiations between Modric and Real Madrid were smooth and quick as both sides were keen to seal the deal.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano said Modric rejected the above offer from the Saudi Arabian club to continue staying at Bernabeu. Modric's only priority is Real Madrid. He also just won the Spanish King's Cup with Real Madrid after defeating Osasuna 2-1 in the final early this morning.

Modric joined Real Madrid in 2012 from Tottenham. To date, the Croatian has played 322 La Liga matches and scored 26 goals for the Bernabeu club. With Real Madrid, Modric has won 5 Champions League titles, 3 La Liga titles and 2 Spanish King's Cups.

Real is also the club that elevated Modric from a star to a legend of world football. His greatest glory is the 2018 Ballon d'Or, won when Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi were still at the peak of their form.
